We all know the feeling. You find a great deal on a retro game system and discover that it doesn't have the power supply. Before checking ebay or heading to a local electronics store check your collection. You might be surprised to know that you may already own a compatible adapter.

The Sega MK-1602 power supply works nicely with many retro consoles such as:

  • NEC Turbo Grafx 16 (Base System)
  • Nintendo Super Famicom (Original Non JR Model)
  • Nintendo Famicom (Original Red & White)
  • Nintendo NES (Toaster)
  • Sega Genesis (Model 1)
  • Sega CD (Models 1 & 2)
  • Sega Master System (Original release)
  • TurboDuo/PC Engine Duo * With adapter (http://console5.com/store...y-plug-adapter-cable.html)

Specs:

INPUT: 120V 60Hz 35W

OUTPUT: 9V - 1.2 Amp (1602-1: 10V - 1.2 Amp)

CENTER: - (Negative)

Great informational reference for the various Genesis power supplies as well. It's important to know that, while the 1602 will work for the Sega CDX, it's underpowered and has led to machines being damaged as a result.

The 1602-1 is 10V output, for reference, but same stats otherwise.

This is my go to PSU. I hold on to several of these at all times.

It's possible to use also with European version of the Sega Game Gear.

The US Game Gear use the  Genesis II AC adaptor.
