In this episode Bil and Duke are back to chat about difficulty in games. What makes a difficult game good? Where do some difficult games go wrong? Does difficulty make a game better? We'll tackle it all, and toss in our usual tangents to boot.

oops i saw this post before the forum one, ignore my first post here!

I just noticed the Episode title.  I wonder how many can guess the reference before they hear the show...

i know i say it most of the time, but this was a damn good episode, and no! - it was not to long, rather much to short.
i throw out 5 games that i think of speaking off diffculty:

- SNES: Super Mario World - the extra levels after Bowser at then end ( i think you mentioned them) - they were godd and demanding hard for me as a kid, but i think i couldn´t master them now.
- 360: CoD Modern Warfare 3- even on normal just to fast for my old reflexes of  my buddy and me in Co-Op (like nearly every FPS)
- GC: F-Zero X , never even tried it, because it's said it's so hard, it can break the will of gamers
- GBA: Final Fantasy Tactis Advance: i love the setting and story of this game (THE WINTER SCHOOL-YARD SCENE!!!) , but after maybe 10-20 fights i am stuck with all the rules and jobs... that game came to mind, when you said in the podcast, if a game isn't fun anymore, stop playing it...
- PS3 Gran Tursimo 6 and 360 Need For Speed Shift: when you are sitting cramped for 5 hours into your seat, just for perfecting all corners (in NFS- TheNürburgring  Nordschleife) or wanting to collect the Gold Trophies just for the feeling of completion (GT 6) it can be very very nervewrecking, but also rewarding ("eat my dust computer-ai-suckers!!!!!)...but sometimes it´s better to shift down a gear and say, bronze is also nice... like in Blastcorps on N64 and a lot of other RARE-Nintendo Games.
