(*Future posts not exclusive to Steam)

Hello RFGeneration community, NxCmp here. Long time lurker, short time active member. I have been reading the blogs for some time and something grabbed my attention. I noticed that there is very little to no Linux Gaming coverage. So it seems to me that this is something that needs to be addressed.

I personally feel that I can fill this void. I know that all types of gamers are welcome and there are Linux gamers among us and Linux coverage would be a bonus for current users and even those who may be interested in the Linux OS and the future planed Steam OS by Valve. When it comes to personal, enterprise, or gaming, I'm your guy. I take any and all questions regarding Linux and gaming on this 'platform' .

Just a few of the things I plan to cover in my future posts will be game reviews, OS variant compatibility among Distros, driver comparisons, new hardware/technology, Troubleshooting, How-To's, and much more. Think of it as your one stop location for any and all news in the Linux Gaming world right here on RFGeneration.

Linux has been gaining a LOT of traction over the past few years in the tech/support and gaming departments. So expect a new post regarding the above around once a week. The world of Linux gaming is only getting started and has no signs of slowing down.

Apart from RFGeneration, I have spent a lot of my time helping to manage a gaming community called FugWorld. It's primarily focused on Team Fortress 2 but we are considered a 'gaming community'. We are not a clan by any means. Everyone gets together to play any and everything. I also run a personal site, Chooseopensource which I have used to post general Linux news, Raspberry Pi projects, How-To's, etc. It is currently in the process of being reworked.

Well I think that about covers the intro. Glad to help fill a potential need for RFG news/blogs. I'll be back with another post within the week.

'Free' you later.

Welcome to the site!  Always good to add more corners to our gaming discussions/database/backlogs.

Excellent!  Looking forward to checking these out.

What's going on, dude?  Haven't seen you in a spell.  I am a active Linux gamer, primarily due to the massive steps the community has taken over the past few years to make it a viable solution for all, not just the tinkerer.  Ten years ago who would have thought that we could have a system ready to go "out of the box" with a clean installation of a leading Linux distro?  Not me.

Anyways, good to see you again and looking forward to your articles.

as a guy who actually has a box running SteamOS hooked up to his TV, I'm actually quite interested in what you might be able to tell us about the world of Linux gaming. Great idea for a blog! Welcome!

@bombatomba: Glad to see another Linug gamer here Smiley Yeah gaming has gotten easier over the past few years but its always been possible, back in 2007 I saw playing games like WoW and Neverwinter Nights on openSuse, It was possible you just had to know more about what you were doing to get it working, only now is it easier for everyone.

@noiseredux: You use SteamOS, awesome. I will be making another post later this week about one of the big questions about Linux gaming, then say what to choose and explain why. Look for it. Smiley

@NxCmp: Ha! Note to self: Dont reply to posts the second you get out of bed. Wow that was bad Tongue

yup I built a Steambox strictly to use for streaming to big screen about a month ago and decided to give the SteamOS beta a try. So far, I'm pleased w/ my decision. It's also fun to watch the OS progress towards release. Smiley

I meant to have the next blog out today but spent crazy amount of hours with free tech support with a redirect virus, windows file systems issues, building someone a gaming PC and helping convert and teach 2 users in the Fug Community Linux. Should be up by Saturday night Smiley I like how its turning out!
