Let's face it: There were a lot of great Video Games released this year. Some were good, and some were bad. That being said, here are the ones I enjoyed the most:
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Shin Megami Tensei IV is a 3DS RPG from the Shin Megami Tensei series of RPGs. (Obviously). Featuring a System similar to Pokemon, you have to persuade Demons to join your party and shape the world into one of your choice. One that falls under the Rule of God, one that falls under the Rule of Lucifer, or one under the rule of Humanity. I've played tons of RPGs in my time, and this one feels like a fresh take on the Genre, despite having been done before. It's quite an improvement over it's predecessor, Nocturne, and it can be made to be a lot easier, or a lot harder, depending on your tastes.
Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V is an open-world Action Game. Following in the footsteps of it's successful, but clunky prequel, it makes some subtle, but brilliant changes to the Gameplay of GTA IV, which makes it far more playable than IV, which in turn enables it to be more fun. Despite a poor launch of the online component, Rockstar was responsive to the complaints of the players and made it work, creating one of the more fun titles for 2013.
Pokemon X
Pokemon X is the latest game, along with Pokemon Y, in the Pokemon Series of games. Featuring the familiar gameplay we've come to know and love, it added more features to the age-old formula, giving it a fresh new style. It's also quite emotional, especially at the end. I never thought a Pokemon Game could touch my heart with it's story, but this one did, and that's why it is awesome. I can't wait to see how the developers top this one.
Now, what is the one true Game of the Year in my opinion? Well... 
Killer Instinct
Killer Instinct is the long awaited Sequel to Killer Instinct 2, which was released over a decade ago in Arcades, and honestly, I could never ask for a more worthy sequel to it. This game is fighting game perfection. I've never been too good at fighting games, but I can play this one easily. More content is coming to it next year, and the Ultra Edition includes the original Killer Instinct. To put it simple terms, I love this game, and it is the very definition of awesome.

Ah, Halloween. That time of year that revolves around tricks and treats. I like this holiday. Who doesn't enjoy messing with people and fleeing from the boys in blue? But enough on that. There are plenty of great games that are practically meant to be played on Halloween. Here are some of my favorites:
Okay, so it's not really that scary, but Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, is full of all kinds of monsters to kill. This is my favorite GBA Game ever, tied directly with Metroid Fusion. And before you ask, yes, I do enjoy it more than Symphony of the Night. It's also set in the FUTURE! What more could you ask for?!
The definitive version of Resident Evil (that's debatable) is Resident Evil DS. Originally released for the PlayStation, it had it's scary moments, but what was truly frightening to most people was it's Voice Acting, which makes people cringe to this day. One particular interesting thing about it is it's uncut into, which was not censored because of violence, but simply because the main character was smoking a cigarette. Think about that, take it any way you want.
Siren: New Translation (Siren: Blood Curse in the US) is scary. Very scary. It revolves around a group of people who must escape from a new kind of undead called Shibito. These dangerous, Zombie-like creatures cannot die. Ever. Instead, you must use a gameplay element called Sight Jacking to evade them. Sight Jacking, as the name implies (sort of), allows you to see through the eyes of nearby Shibito, allowing you to evade them easier. As I said before, this game is scary. It made me jump more than once, and I actually screamed out loud at one point. I highly recommend this game.
And there you have it. Three great games to play on Halloween. Go get scared.

I've always loved Gaming Movies of all kinds. Despite the fact that people hate most of them, if not that, then all of them, I've decided to make a Documentary/Review Movie of sorts for fun! As you can see from the title, it will be called Retro Redd. It's gonna take some time to make, as it's only in the planning stages right now, but I can't imagine it taking more than a month to complete, what with me planning to keep things simple and all. Anyway, I just felt like announcing this little plan of mine for all of you to hear. So...yeah. Look forward to it.
Also, if your wondering about my Power Glove Gaming Series and it's absence, you can stop now, as my Power Glove Sensors are still broken, and I don't know when I can replace them.
Alright, so as many of you know, I go around saying how much I hate Indie Games. Well, guess what?
I was wrong.
Now, breathe for a minute...Alright then.
As odd as it may sound coming from me, I've been sampling a lot of Indie Games lately, and I gotta say, there's some good stuff here. Terraria, Castle Miner Z, etc. I mostly play them on my 360. They're cheaper than regular games, and many of them have great concepts, and they execute those concepts well. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't give them a chance earlier. Granted, Terraria and Castle Miner Z are just like Minecraft in some ways, but in other ways, they're unique. Terraria, for example, is a 2D-Game, a Side-Scroller to be specific. Castle Miner Z has Guns and more fearsome creatures. There's also plenty more to check out. All of the ones I've played so far were worth the MS Points I spent on them.

As some of you may (or may not) be aware, I recently acquired a 5200. Now that I have one, I've come to a decision: I'm going to build a complete 5200 Library. Easy, right? Don't count on it! While there's less than 100 Games (69 to be exact), and while most of them are cheap and really common, there are a few rare ones which command premium prices. Needless to say, when the time comes to get those games, I may have to resort to reproductions. Why? Well, money is tight these days, and as long as a physical cartridge is in my hand, I consider it a part of my collection, even though many wouldn't. Besides, it's obvious that the majority of my collection would be the real thing. Also, the way I see it, if I could get 100 NES Games, then I can certainly get 69 Atari 5200 Games.

It's been a long, somewhat rough, road to 100, but in the end, I have prevailed. Across many trades and many purchases, I have reached my goal. Along the way, I've met many friends who have helped me reach my goal in one way or another. I would like to take this time to thank them:
slackur - He could be described as my first friend here on RF Generation. I received several NES Games from him as a Christmas Gift one year.
bickman2k - He could be described as incredibly patient. He put up with me so much in the Chat Room, not complaining once about any of my rants.
singlebanana - He could be described as a very generous (and patient) trader. He sold me an Atari 2600, which reignited my passion for gaming during a Gaming Fatigue burnout.

Hey all. I was able to pick up 5 Games at the local Retro Game Store yesterday, kicking up my Number of NES Games to 76. I'm so close to victory, I can almost taste it!
...and that victory, for whatever reason, tastes like a Well-Done Burger from an old restaurant that I wish was still open around here.
Also, I will be doing Punchout for my next PGGS. You all can thank bickman2k and wildbil52 for that.

Hey all. Some of you may recall a post of mine from a while back, stating that I wanted to get 100 NES Games, mostly as a personal goal. Well, I'm almost there! I currently have 71, and I'm going NES Game Hunting tomorrow, which should really boost that number upwards.

You read that right, but may not be thinking about it correctly. As much as I would love to go to Japan one day, I don't know Japanese, nor will I probably ever have the funds to do it. That being said, I must resort to Video Games that let me explore Japan. The problem? I don't know too many.
Noting that, could some of you recommend games that let you explore Japan? I know Shenmue, Yakuza, and Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 (that one only sort of lets you) let you do it, but I need more than those. So...anyone?

FMV Games...Video Games that use Full Motion Video for they're graphics. They died out in the late 90's, and haven't been seen since, as far as I know. For many, they're stupid and have no real value. For others, such as myself, they're fun and unique. Today, I'm here to present to you a look back at the most famous (and infamous) ones. Let's start.
That game there is Night Trap, a game with some controversial history behind it. There's a LOT behind it's story, but the short version is that a politician called it bad in the sense that it was too violent, and everyone believed him. Over time, the hype died down, and to some, it's now a cult classic. Originally released for the Sega CD, the goal is to trap Vampires called "Augers" using various trap doors in a house to protect several young women in the house having a sleepover. Simple, but it can raise your tension sometimes, because most of the time, one wrong move means Game Over. It was also released for the 3DO and the 32X-CD.
What's Special About It: The Main Character is portrayed by Dano Plato of Diff'rent Strokes fame. Also, as mentioned before, it caused a lot of controversy, but most of it only happened because someone was full of hot air.
What we have here is Wing Commander III, a game I like to call a Sleeper Hit. It's a Small-Spaceship Simulator, and your goal is to fend off the Kilrathi (Humanoid Lions). Besides the Spaceship Combat, it also plays like a typical FMV Adventure Game. You can talk to the Characters to initiate live action conversations with them, which look awesome. Wing Commander III is, without a doubt, my favorite FMV Game. Originally released for DOS, it has been ported to the 3DO and PS1.
What's Special About It: Mark Hamill, most famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars IV, V, and VI, plays the Main Character in this one, and in the fourth one, and he does an excellent job at it.
Mad Dog McCree is an Old West shooting game. The goal is to track down the outlaw Mad Dog McCree and save the Mayor's daughter. To do this, you have to shoot a bunch of other criminals while searching for Mad Dog. It's not too hard, but not too easy either, and the whole concept is really simple. It was originally released as an Arcade Machine, and has been ported to many other Consoles.
What's Special About It: It was actually pretty successful for an FMV Game, considering most people hate them.

You've heard me go on about them before. Well, now it's time for another episode of "Critic Bashing 101".
Critics...people who take opinions and make them into fact. Real jerks. If they said Ocarina of Time sucked, people would listen to them and it wouldn't be a million seller title. Anyway, this time it involves video game movies.
Have you ever heard of a movie called Postal? It's based on the Video Game of the same name. It was directed by Uwe Boll, and because of that fact alone, people hated it. This is crap. People shouldn't hate a movie just because a certain person directed it. The movie is definitely not realistic by any means, but Uwe Boll did not do a bad job in directing it. It's funny, and I was really entertained by it. It's probably just me, but I cannot understand why people hate that man and his movies. House of the Dead was good too. Yeah. I went there.
As for Video Games...I don't complain about bad graphics or praise games with good graphics, because I don't really care about graphics. I play games for the Story and Gameplay. This brings me to my point...Who the hell is Gamespot to say that Saint's Row The Third is "Visually Unimpressive"? That is just stupid! Why are you gonna complain about graphics when you have a fun game in front of you?!
Anyway, I think I've made my point. Agree with me or Disagree with me, I don't care. However, if you Disagree with me, at least keep your counter-argument civil and calm. Thank you, and good night.
