Hey all! It's that time again! Time for more of my Gaming Adventures! Here we go!

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is essentially an HD-Remake of Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii. However, it does feature SOME extra content from what I've seen so far. As the title implies, the whole idea revolves around hunting monsters, small and large, which is actually more fun than it sounds. With a plethora of different weapons and armor to craft, this one is sure to keep you busy. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten very far yet, so that's all I have to say about this one.

Now we're talking! Soul Hackers is a game I've been greatly anticipating! Coming from the Shin Megami Tensei series of RPGs, I cannot say enough good things about this game! I haven't made it very far yet, but here are some reasons why I can recommend this game. For one, it's challenging, which I think is something we don't see enough of in this day and age. It also manages to suck you in, preventing you from losing interest. Another neat feature is that you can recruit your enemies to fight for you, which essentially means that you can add new Party Members whenever you feel like it. (No, it's NOT like Pokemon. You have to talk or bribe them into joining you. Besides, Shin Megami Tensei came first!). You can also fuse your Party Members together, creating (or losing!) stronger ones in the process. So what the hell are you waiting for?! Go download this game! (I say download because it's becoming increasingly hard already to find it in stores).

That's Etrian Odyssey IV, another RPG from Atlus. What makes this Dungeon-Crawler unique is that you have to draw your own Map on the bottom screen while exploring the dungeons. It's actually more fun than it sounds though. New to the series is an Easy Mode, dubbed "Casual Mode" in-game. It's a welcome addition to the series for those looking to have fun instead of grinding they're way to the top at an extremely slow pace. Overall, I've found this game to be quite fun. Like Soul Hackers, it's hard to find though. I recommend downloading this one too.

Well, that's it for now. See you next entry.

The RPG (Role Playing Game) is one of the many genres of games out there, and it is, without a doubt, my favorite genre. From the Epic Gameplay to the Intriguing Stories, these are my favorite ones. Here we go!

King's Field

King's Field is a First Person RPG for the PS1. Perhaps it is best known as the First (Second in Japan) Predecessor to the immensely popular PC/PS3/360 RPG Dark Souls. However, this game plays much differently from Dark Souls. As I mentioned before, it's a First Person RPG, and while it isn't the prettiest thing in existence, it's Gameplay is solid.

Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

Ah, Final Fantasy. Once the most popular RPG Series EVER, it fell off it's throne a while back, and has been going downhill ever since. That doesn't mean they're all bad though. Echoes of Time is one such example. While not the most well known in the once beloved series, it's still quite the fun Action-RPG. You create an Avatar to use, and you can customize they're skills in pretty much any way that you want. Although it's unusual for Final Fantasy to do something like that, it was a welcome change.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Fire Emblem Awakening is the latest title in--What? You say you've read this already? Oh. Alrighty, I'll keep it short then. Fire Emblem + Avatar Creation + Epic Story + Amazing Gameplay = WIN! Even though it can't top a certain game on this list (You'll see it soon), it's still amazing.

Makai Toushi Saga

Now we're talking! Makai Toushi Saga is a remake of Final Fantasy Legend for the Game Boy, one of my favorite Game Boy Games ever, and an epic RPG in it's own right. Recently Fan-Translated, Makai Toushi Saga is about an Adventurer who decides to climb a Tower to Heaven, to find out exactly what's up there, as all before the Adventurer have failed. Epic Story, refreshing Gameplay, and more, this game is one you MUST try.

Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross is the most EPIC. RPG. EVER. Period. With an emotional story, unique (but brilliant RPG Gameplay), amazing Characters, and more, no RPG can top this one, not even the mighty Final Fantasy VII. In fact, dare to compare:
GameSpot's Score of FF7: 9.5
GameSpot's Score of CC: 10
But don't they're word for it, take mine. As a person who has experienced this game many times over, I never get tired of it. It is, and always will be, my favorite RPG ever. Not only that, it's my favorite game in general. Sure, you can argue that it was confusing, but it's not if you play Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreamers (Japan Only, Fan Translation available). So what are you waiting for? Go play it!

Before I begin, I'll have to ask you all to forgive my weird Blog Title, and blame Crabmaster2000. He comes up with the best ideas, using the games you've played to make a Blog Title. No copyright infringement intended. I just enjoy his awesome idea. Anyway...

Fire Emblem Awakening is the latest title in the Fire Emblem Series of Strategy-RPGs. Sporting an Avatar (Custom Character) Creation feature (This is actually the 2nd time the series has done this), 3D Visuals, and fun gameplay, all of these features combine perfectly to make one hell of a fun game. I haven't had this much fun with an SRPG in years, and I highly recommend it. It also manages to suck you in. Before I knew it, 2 Hours had passed from when I started playing it.

Foto Showdown DSi puts a new twist on the Pokemon Formula by using Photos. How? Well, you snap a picture with your DSi Camera, and a Monster will be made from it. You then use that Monster to battle with other Monsters in a tournament. It's pretty much a direct copy of Pokemon, but with Photos. It's actually pretty fun though.

Here's one I'm sure you all know very well by now. Fallout New Vegas is like a cross between an FPS and an RPG. It revolves around a Courier and a special Casino Chip that is stolen from them. Said Chip is the key to determining who will rule New Vegas in a Post-Apocalyptic Nevada. Crazy as it all may seem, it really is a fun game, and I'm really enjoying it.

Well, that's all for now. Check back later for more entries.

Posted under Consoles, Gaming, Top10

Let's face it. Gaming is in our (The Members of RFGeneration) blood. There are games we love, and games we hate. Without the hardware though, how could we play all of these games? Today, I'm here to reveal the Consoles that have made they're mark in my life as the best of the best. Here we go!

Number 10

Ah, the Nintendo Gamecube. Popularly known as Nintendo's jump into the Compact Disc market, this console, like most of Nintendo's hardware, carried the title of "Kid's System". Despite this, it features many Triple-A Titles, like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, and Metroid Prime. Even it's lesser known titles are Triple-A, like Virtua Quest, Phantasy Star Online EPs I+II Plus, and Tales of Symphonia. Without a doubt, this console has many fun titles that are sure to keep you busy.

Stand Out Titles:
Virtua Quest
Phantasy Star Online EPs I+II Plus
PC-Genjin Remake (Known as Bonk's Adventure in the US)

Number 9

The Atari 5200 was not nearly as popular as Atari's previous console, the 2600. This, along with other factors, doomed it to failure. Still, it features a strong fanbase who cared enough to produce Homebrew Titles for it. It also had more power than the ColecoVision, but it's controllers left something to be desired. In this day and age though, you can buy rebuilt controllers that are more reliable than stock controllers. This console features an undeniable charm in my eyes, which is why it finds itself at Number 9.

Stand Out Titles:
Mario Bros.
Pac-Man
Defender

Number 8

The Neo-Geo CDZ is an upgraded version of the Neo-Geo CD. Featuring faster load times than the original model, it still never caught on, due to a flaw that made it overheat a lot. Still, it's an awesome console, and for good reason: It sports many arcade-perfect ports of some of the most awesome fighting games ever. If not for the overheating problem, it would've found itself higher on this list. Still, you can't go wrong with arcade-perfect ports of the best fighting games ever.

Stand Out Titles:
King of Fighters 97
Fatal Fury 3
Samurai Shodown RPG

Number 7

The Panasonic 3DO...a console that was doomed to fail when it should have succeeded. It's ONLY failing point was it's high price tag of 700 US Dollars. (!!) Still, when it came to FMV (Full Motion Video) Games, there was none other that could stand against it. It was incredibly powerful for it's time, and featured what is quite frankly the best version of Street Fighter II.

Stand Out Titles:
Mad Dog McCree
Wing Commander III
Street Fighter II

Number 6

The TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine was NEC's stab at the NES. NEC's claim was that it featured bigger and better graphics than the NES. While this was true, it failed to gain the attention of gamers at the time. Still, I like this console a lot. It featured many unique games at the time, including the incredibly fun-to-play Silent Debuggers. A fun fact, it was advertised to be 16-Bits, but it was actually just two 8-Bit Processors.

Stand Out Titles:
Silent Debuggers
Splatterhouse
Street Fighter II (This was an achivement on this console, due to space limitations)

Number 5

"Genesis does what Nintendon't!" That was Sega's answer to Nintendo more than 20 years ago with they're Genesis Console. Despite being slow out of the gate, the switch to a new CEO made this console storm ahead of the NES with an awesome new game, Sonic The Hedgehog. While it is true that the Audio isn't as good as the SNES and that the Add-Ons weren't as popular as Sega had hoped, it still had many great games that were all it's own, one hell of an awesome controller, and let's not forget the Blast Processing.

Stand Out Titles:
Sonic The Hedgehog
Phantasy Star III
Space Harrier II

Number 4

The Atari Jaguar, Atari's last console, was called the first 64-Bit Console by Atari. Atari tried they're best to market it as being the greatest console ever, but ultimately failed. Nonetheless, the console has a strong fanbase to this day, which still produces homebrew titles for it. This console has been one of my favorites for ages now, and I'm still purchasing games for it to this day. Honestly, I can't explain why I love it so much. I just do. It's that simple.

Stand Out Titles:
NBA Jam TE
Ultra Vortek
Cybermorph

Number 3

The Sega Saturn is, without a doubt, a love it or hate it console. I obviously love it, and for good reason. Featuring some of the best 2D Games ever, not to mention some 3D Gems, the Sega Saturn proved to be a diamond in the rough for Sega's most loyal fans. Unfortunately, it proved to be a flop in the eyes of consumers. Still, when it comes to hearts of true gamers, the Saturn stands out as one of the best.

Stand Out Titles:
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Sonic Jam
Magic Knight Rayearth

Number 2

Now we're talking. The Sega Dreamcast is popularly known as the first HD Console. Ahead of it's time, this thing was meant to destroy the PS1 and N64, as well as they're successors. Unfortunately, after the PS2 was released, it basically fell off the face of the earth. Still, the Dreamcast was a great console. It also did Online Play first.

Stand Out Titles:
Sonic Adventure
Shenmue
Evolution

Number 1

The NES is the BEST console ever. When Nintendo came to power in 1985, they released this monster of a console, effectively saving gaming from the endless pits of darkness. The NES is legendary among gamers now, featuring countless Franchise launches, hundreds of thousands of memories, and of course, great games. There is no console in my eyes that can stand against it.

Stand Out Titles:
Super Mario Bros.
Final Fantasy
The Legend of Zelda

Well, that's it. Thanks for reading!

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the House, not a Gamer was stirring...Not even Izret."

Redd: Pfffft. Yeah, right! We're all gaming tonight!

Izret: Hey Redd, remember last year? You told us the story of how you saved Christmas of '98 with your Power Glove.

Slackur: ...What?

Bickman: It's true. He told this hour-long story where he supposedly saved Christmas one year with his Power Glove.

Zagnorch: Like I said, that never happened.

Redd: Yes, it did! Hell, I've got a Million Stories!

Zagnorch: Okay, smart-ass. Tell us another one.

Bickman: Oh, this oughta be good. Tongue

Redd: Alright...this is the story of how Coleco defeated Atari and Fairchild and went on to become the leading Video Game Company in the world. It all started when--

Zagnorch: WHOA! Wait a damn minute! That never happened!

Redd: Yes it did! Let me finish!

Zagnorch: (Grumbles)

Redd: See, back in 2001, I found this old Machine that lets one travel to different universes. I used it, and ended up in a universe much like ours, except here, Coleco was the leading company. Not just in the US, but the whole world.

Bickman: ......Are you high?

Redd: Shut up and listen. See, while I was in this universe, I found an old book detailing Coleco's rise to power. Here's what I read: It started when Atari jumped into the Market with Pong for the 2600. It was a huge success. It sold out quite fast. At this point, a company called Fairchild jumped in with they're Channel F Console. It was also successful, and a fierce clash between Atari and Fairchild erupted. No one could maintain a definite lead. After about 2 years, Coleco showed up and entered into the clash with they're own Console, the ColecoVision. They licensed Donkey Kong, and it sold out in no time. With this, Fairchild gave up and left the battle. However, Atari wouldn't be knocked down that easily. They knew they needed a game to defeat the Arcade-Perfect Port of Donkey Kong, so they developed a plan...That plan was to create Two Video Games: One based off of E.T., and one that was a Port of the Arcade-Hit, Pac-Man. What could possibly go wrong, Atari said to themselves. Within a mere month, Atari unleashed Pac-Man and E.T. to widespread hatred. Atari was collapsing, and Coleco saw this as an opening. They went to Namco, and claimed they could create a Port of Pac-Man that would make Namco millions. The CEO of Namco was skeptical to say the least, but he agreed, and gave Coleco a chance. Two months later, Coleco released they're version of Pac-Man. It was they're biggest hit, and people absolutely loved it, quickly tossing aside Atari's Pac-Man for Coleco's. Coleco and Namco made more money than they thought they would, and Coleco went on to create more great games, many of them original. Atari was defeated, and could do nothing to stop Coleco. It was almost like they fell off the face of the earth. By 2004, Atari was forgotten by everyone. Nintendo tried to compete with Coleco at one point, but failed when Coleco unveiled they're newest system, which also had Arcade-Perfect Ports. No one could stand up to Coleco, and as such, Coleco just kept making more consoles, up to the point where they're name was synonymous with Video Games in general. And that, my friends, is how Coleco conquered the world of gaming. Smiley

Zagnorch: What...the...hell...

Slackur: Dude, that was painful to listen to...

Bickman: Try picturing it.

(Laugh track)

Redd: Hey, you guys asked me to tell a story, so I did. You mad?

Izret: Yes.

Slackur: And what did ANY of that have to do with Christmas?

Redd: Well, it happened during December of 2001, so...yeah...

Bickman: Your crazy.

Redd: Thank you, I try.

Bickman: (Sigh)

Redd: Anyway, from all of us here at RF Generation, we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Cheesy

The End.

Posted under Gaming, Heroes, Influential, People

Ah, the People of Gaming. Where would we be without them? Probably not as far as we are now. Today, I present to you a list of the most influential people in gaming (at least, in my opinion). Here they are:

Nolan Bushnell: The Father of Gaming

This legendary figure is known as Nolan Bushnell. He founded Atari, Inc. in 1972 after creating Pong, which is popularly known as the First Video Game Ever. Even though he was fired by his own company some time later, he accomplished much in his time there, effectively making him the very Father of Gaming. A fun fact, he also founded Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza.

Shigeru Miyamoto: The Savior of Gaming

Shigeru Miyamoto is a name that every gamer, old and new, should know. Taught the art of the game by Gunpei Yokoi, he created Donkey Kong and Super Mario. Bros., both of which helped revitalize the Gaming Industry when it was on the brink of death. Like Nolan Bushnell, he is now a legend in the Gaming Industry. He is Nintendo's most respected game developer, having proved himself many times to them.

Hideo Kojima: The Storyteller of Gaming

Hideo Kojima is the writer of many deep, amazing, and just plain awesome Video Game Stories. These include Policenauts, Snatcher, and Metal Gear Solid. Without question, there is no one in the industry that can tell a better story. Metal Gear Solid 3 (and 4) will bring tears to your eyes, a smile to your face, and find a place in your heart as truly great stories.

Trip Hawkins: The Dreamer of Gaming

Trip Hawkins is the founder of EA and the creator of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer Console. Although he had good ideas, and created an innovative console, his high asking price for the thing led to it's ultimate downfall. Even so, he could be described as the man who truly did CD Based Video Games right for the first time. Founding a big company like EA isn't bad either.

Billy Mitchell: The Greatest in Gaming

Okay, so Billy Mitchell isn't a developer, but he is a damn good gamer. Achieving the highest of scores in multiple games is one thing, but being the first gamer to achieve a perfect score in Pac-Man is truly amazing, considering the last level is one big glitch. Although there's little to be said here, he deserves some serious credit.

Well, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this! Cheesy

Excuse the weird title. I was trying to pull a Crabmaster2000 and make a unique title out of what I've played. Heh. Anyway...

That game is Robot Block, better known as Stack-Up in the US. I recently acquired this ultra-rare title, and all I gotta say is this: "I don't get it". I've gotta say, I've played some...well, "different" games in my time, but this one takes the Trophy for Different. Even with a FAQ, I couldn't figure it out. None the less, what I have here is certainly unique. It even has some Voice Clips! So, yeah. Not much to say about this one.

As you can see, that's Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention for the PS Vita. This Strategy RPG is about a Demon Kid who is mad at his Dad for crushing his "Slaystation Portable" by accident. (Do I REALLY need to tell you where the name Slaystation comes from? I didn't think so.)

Anyway, the Demon Kid in question, Mao, is trying to kill his Dad for the injustice. Mao, (Voiced by the extremely talented Vic Mignogna, of DBZ "Broly" and DNAngel "Dark Mousy" fame) is a really immature and bratty kid with an EQ (Evil Quotient) of 1.8 Million. He attends a Demon School where things like skipping class are considered good, so he's an Honor Student.

The point is, this is one funny game, and if you like Strategy RPGs, you should seriously try this game. Don't have a Vita? There's a Version with less content for the PS3! Cheesy

That is the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft. Basically, it's a stripped down version of Minecraft for the PC, with updates from the PC Version coming to it slowly. Your probably thinking "Why should I play it then?". Well, there's no cheats or mods for one thing, so actually playing the game (It's better with a friend on the couch beside you. Yes, it has split screen Co-Op.) is rewarding. Plus, if your the kind of person who likes Achievements, this game is an easy way to get them.

Well, that's what I've been playing lately. Check back later for a new entry. Also, don't expect a new PGGS for a while. My sensors broke. Sorry about that.

Posted under Challenge, Gaming, Autumn

This past Summer, I noticed a few people on here taking a "Summer Gaming Challenge", where they had to complete certain games before Summer ended. Well, I've decided to try my hand at this, except with Autumn, which starts September 23rd. It ends on December 22nd, so I will be given approximately 3 Months to finish. Here are the games I'm going to try and beat (in no particular order):

1. Zhadnost (3DO)
2. Wing Commander III (3DO)
3. Slayer (Hard Mode) (3DO)
4. Killing Time (3DO)
5. Halo: Reach (It's on Normal Mode, and I suck at FPS's, so...yeah) (X360)
6. Bubsy 2 (Normal Mode) (Genesis)
7. Phantasy Star 2 (Genesis game on PS2 Compilation)
8. Shaq-Fu (Genesis)
9. Home Alone 2 (SNES)
10. SVC Chaos: SNK VS. Capcom (Arcade)

Well, that's all. This is gonna be interesting. Smiley
