Well, I've finished Silent Hill: Origins for the PSP.  I did enjoy it, despite its various glaring flaws, and planned immediately to restart the game and start working on some of the unlockables.  It hit me about five minutes after I started.  What hit me, you ask?

The Post-Game Blues (PGB).

PGB.  This is the name I give that very special form of almost-depression that strikes me after I finish a game that I really enjoyed.  It doesn't happen much these days (which speaks either on my gaming habits, my taste in games, or the quality games today), but when it hits, PGB is quite a bit more intense than when I was  younger.  When deep in the effects of PGB I can be expected to loaf around, going about my daily  activities normally, but basically in a state of confusion as far as gaming is concerned.  I want to play something, but I am unable to focus enough to actually play something.

In the past I beat this by organization as well as getting help from my computer.  I own a copy of Game Collector (basically a database for your game collection), and when I used to get PGB, I would boot it up  and select "Random Game".  This solved my problem instantly.  Now...  things are different.  I'm a parent of two children under 5 and a full time student.  What time I get is usually on my PSP, or on my junky laptop.  I do have CFW installed, so my choices are not as limited as they could be, though.

Is this a common thing among us gamers?  Maybe older gamers, or is it just me?

I do the same thing when I finish a good game. I have a hard time getting into something else when I've spent dozens of hours completing a game. I usually just have to give it some time (usually a few months when I have time for another game anyway) and then I can really get into something new. But then the next challenge is deciding what to play. I know I'll never have time to play every game I have now, let alone all the others I don't have yet, so I usually only try a game for a few minutes and if it doesn't grab my attention in that time, it goes back to the shelf.

I have had this happen to me too.
Just try out a few games and see which one grabs you. I tend to have oodles of games i want to play now though so it isn't an issue anymore.

My biggest problem now is trying to decide which game i want to take the time to complete. Or how much to complete before moving onto the next one.
My most recent decision trouble was Dante's Inferno, Gears of War, Chime, Borderlands: General Knox, and a few others.

Also our collection too has a random game function Smiley

Hit me big time with Persona 3 FES. The game took up my entire year pretty much, playing off and on. I poured 90 hours into that game (in game time, not counting the number of deaths and restarting dates, replaying funny scenarios, etc) and really grew to love the characters infinitely more than any other game and never wanted the game to end. Well, it did and then I just played a few other random games but P3 left such an impression on me nothing compared.

Then I played P4, beat it, and it all happened again.

This happens to me to from time to time. It usually dont last for more than a day though. I feel like I need to play something, but nothing (even  my favs) seems appealling. Once I wake up the next night though I'm pretty much refreshed and ready to go again.

I understand completely and think this is an excellent topic.  Would you mind if I use your post as an inspiration for an article?  Of course, I would definitely credit you and this post in it.  Drop me a PM to let me know.

Thanks for a great read!

Soon as I got all the Vidmasters and acheived Recon armor in Halo 3, I felt this way. A game I used to play constantly I know only play about once a month. Same feeling when I got all the masks in Majora's mask too. Luckily, I always get random games from Gamefly I forgot I even had in my que and that usually fixes it.

So I'm an odd ball. So I am usually the last to post on a blog/forum. So I only post about weird games on weird platforms. So I have a strange relationship with commas and parenthesis. So what? Hey, at least you don't have to car pool with me to work, right? So have a heart, eat a blueberry, and don't forget to drop the empties in the box on the way out. I get deposit on those.
