As a VG collector newbie.
I've begun to start a pretty impressive collection in six months.
Mostly of what I'm collecting for is the Genesis/Mega Drive. Its a system that has the most nostalgia to me. I feel like I missed out on a lot of really great games in my younger days.
So With about 50 Genesis games in my collection(as of typing).
I noticed I have a long,
                                  long,
                                         long way to go..

So I will hunt @ flea-markets.
Look in every nook and cranny @ Goodwill.
Raid someones yard-sale.
Play operation sting on Craigs list and ebay.
Dumpster dive if I have to..
Until I have just about every US release for the Genesis.
(But that doesn't mean I will pass up other games on other systems.)

Now what set me off on this whole collecting deal on the Genesis.
Well that's a "epic find story" for another blog entry.

"AND always Thanks for reading"

Welcome to the crazy, weird and wonderful world of VG collecting!  Genesis in particular is one of my favorite systems to collect for.  It's a bit easier to find them CIB than many older games since many have those hard plastic cases, and the library has so many classics that have stood the test of time.

A note of warning, the more you find in boxes, the more you'll realize the huge amount of shelf space they take, so prepare for that!  Once you hit a few hundred boxed (and you will!) you'll start to run out of space quick if you're not prepared.  I've had to shuffle my Genny collection all over the place to keep up with it's size, and right now I can't even have it out on display (it's splayed out on metal shelves in a utility closet Tongue )

I'll look into my doubles and see if I have anything decent to send your way.

I've got a copy of of the 6-Game that came with the Menacer light gun. Cart, box and manual. PM if you're interested, and good luck with the collecting.

Genny is a great system.
Best of luck with it. Tynstar might be able to offer some pointers if he can be pulled away from 360 achievements.

It's too bad you didn't come to the site sooner, I sold a small lot of CIB Genesis games on eBay for something like $0.25 per game.

@slackur: That is so true. Genesis is pretty much my #3 system to collect for but its probably taking up more space than any other system. I built a shelf just for the system and even that only has room for a couple boxes now after I removed box variants from it a while ago. And that doesn't even include the loose Genny games.

@slackur: I SOoo noticed. My dresser drawer is half full right now. One drawer holds 2 rows(spines showing) of about 34 games(in cases). So I think I'm good for the time being. I'm actually looking to display my carts using a 100 cassette wall mount box(google napa valley 100 cassette). Hopefully this will be feasible on say the EA/codemaster carts.

Also guy thanks for the warm welcome!

Genesis is a good choice for American Collectors, and the NES. For UK, Playstation seems to be the best. I started off with 13 games, about one month later...34 and I believe I haven't hit the £50 mark yet (I haven't tracked payements).
