Simple enough question no? As the hobby, which I believe has already peaked a couple of years ago, begins to shake those along for the short term or changes how others approach their own collecting, collectors find themselves under several different classifications defined mostly by the condition of their games.

It's been a long time since I had used eBay. It's been even longer since the last time the Game Gear got any attention. A year and a half ago when I unloaded a third of my collection which were all loose cartridges, the small GG collection I had was among them. I made a promise to myself that I'd start hunting for CIB GG games and rebuild a modest selection. At that time there were several auctions of a select few GG games that were brand new, all Majesco reprinted ones from 2000. Usually a couple dozens auctions at a time and in groups of 3, 6 or more. I had always meant to grab one but it kept getting pushed aside for something else instead. Time passed, those auctions long gone and I prompty forgot about the system for a while.

Fast forward a year and a half later while browsing eBay on a whim, I came across two more of these auctions, both from the same seller. The one I got which is above, and a nine game one which differed by not having the Foreman for Real title. Not only did it jump me from zero to ten games for my GG instantly, it helped me sort out the Game Gear section of the RFGeneration.com games database. It cost me $30 shipping included for these ten new sealed games, I would've been happy to pay that for half of them in this condition. Auctions like these remind me of why I started using eBay in the first place, and the convenience and fun of online shopping. It doesn't beat legwork and hands-on, but you rarely find stuff like this in the wild, at least in my neck of the woods.
I haven't played them all yet, but I'm a huge Super Battletank fan, and the Ms. Pac-Man is an excellent port, one of the best I've played outside of the DS version of Namco Museum.
From my old blog, posted August 9:
My wife and I did our evening of running around town that we do every few weeks or so. It usually involves a lot of comparison shopping and driving coupled with sore feet and empty wallets. As usual we had a good time and scored some good finds and deals.
Well after 3 tries we managed to find a copy of Babylon 5: The Lost Tales. Look for my review of that soon. Also got the Mass Effect prequel novel which Ill save until the last possible moment so its fresh before I play the game. I picked up the first two Star Trek: Titan novels. For those unawares, it is the continuing story of Captain Riker after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. As much as I love Star Trek between all of the book series I have and those I still need, Star Trek is very vast and very consuming. So I tend to be pickier about them even though Id love to have them all. Since theres only like 3-4 in the Titan series its manageable.
Of course what would a Loot hunt be without video games? We scored 16 games, 1 for her and 15 for me. Among them was the Forza 2: Limited Collectors Edition. I had my eye on that one for a while and there was only 2 left in the city as far as I could tell so it was now or never. The game is good (love the sound effects) and the 156-page book that comes with it is great if your a car enthusiast. I almost bought the Guitar Hero 80s Edition but changed my mind at the last second. Its still $59.99 and thats a bit too steep for 30 songs. Maybe next time on that one.
