After playing it for a couple of hours I thought I'd share with you my impressions of the game so far. There's been a lot of talk about difficulty and changes and criticism of the new direction this franchise has taken with this latest addition and while many of you will like it, the diehard fans of the series may not because of what it does differently.
I picked this game up purely as an impulsive buy that was tugging on my instincts. My brain was saying "it'll be like the others" while my instincts were saying "you'll actually like this one". At one time I actually owned all three last-gen Prince of Persia games but they kept being put aside and forgotten until I regretted buying them and finally sold them off. It's not that they weren't quality titles. It's just that to me personally, they don't have that adventurous charm the original game has.
According to an official press release from Take-Two, they are delaying GTA IV for both platforms until spring, possibly as late as April.
Here's an excerpt from the presser:
Quote
Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360â"žÂ¢ video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Company's second quarter of fiscal 2008. Additionally, Take-Two is updating third quarter and fiscal year 2007 guidance to reflect the movement of Manhunt 2 for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and the Wiiâ"žÂ¢ out of the third quarter and the fiscal year.
Another 7 more songs have been revealed for Guitar Hero III. Is it just me, or have we been spoiled by the thought of original recording so much now that we tend to look down on "as made famous by" songs for the upcoming titles? Some of them I actually prefer to the original, others I'd like to forget. In any case here's the latest batch:
"Miss Murder," by AFI
"3's and 7's," by Queens of the Stone Age
"Raining Blood," by Slayer
"Reptillia," by The Strokes
"Paranoid," as made famous by Black Sabbath
"Cities on Flame," as made famous by Blue Oyster Cult
"Mississippi Queen," as made famous by Mountain
Head over to Joystiq for the complete list to date as well as Youtube links to each song in case you need to jog your memory.
Here's four more Guitar Hero III tracks as listed from the ScoreHero forums:
Suck My Kiss - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Original recording)
La Grange - ZZ Top
Number Of The Beast - Iron Maiden (Original recording)
Through The Fire And Flames - Dragonforce (Original recording)
This game is shaping up to please so far. There hasn't been anything on the total list so far I wouldn't play. Check out the ScoreHero forums to read their exclusive coverage and play-through of the game along with other details from their experience:
A nice video of gameplay footage including physics, car damage and A.I. narrated by one of the developers. I haven't been a fan of the series since it switched to the "street racing" format, but this one shows a lot of promise. Just check out those smoke effects, very impressive. Information at present states that this game will be on every major console and handheld on the market late October or early November of this year. Having said that you can probably guess that these are shots from the PS3/X360 version. As for the others, well your mileage may vary.

According to a BBC article, Sony has decided not to drop the price on the PS3 console in Europe. Instead they will offer a "starter bundle" which will include Motorstorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and an extra controller for free. Which by Sony's calculations is a saving of £115, assuming you want all of that of course. This bundle which is £125 more than a Xbox 360 equivalent bundle and £225 more than a Nintendo Wii with 2 games, may also be a consolation prize as there hasn't been an announcement of a 80GB model for that region either.
The above figures are for the UK, with more details about other countries soon to follow. The prices for these bundles are expected to remain the same as the 60GB model's price prior to this announcement.
One of this year's big surprises with hype and anticipation which is building to a crescendo. LittleBigPlanet will be one of if not the most unique gameplay experience of the year and for many a strong motivation to purchase a PS3. Here's the E3 2007 trailer courtesy once again of GameTrailers.com, enjoy!
Here's an incredible video of a village chase which will be featured in Assassin's Creed. The Ubisoft team led by Jade Raymond used historical documents to re-create ancient environments and also incorporated a real-time combat system of attacks and counterattacks that looks fantastic.
Assassin's Creed is expected to hit store shelves for the PC, PS3 and 360 platforms by this Christmas.
Shortly after Nintendo's conference is Sony's at around 2:00pm - 2:30pm EST. Check out the same sources used to view the Nintendo conference to watch the Sony one as well. Impressions for both Nintendo and Sony will be posted later.
UPDATE: The conference will take place in aprox. 20 minutes from now (2:30pm EST.) The G4 link seems to work the best for live video stream, I've watched the first 2 on it with good results.
As with Morrowind, I knew it was just a matter of time before a GOTY (Game Of The Year) edition of Oblivion came out. As a collector and as a consumer I didn't care for the fact that all of this neat content wasn't available on disc and that the prices for it combined was more than the original game without offering the same level of depth. So needless to say I'm very excited about this and even though I already have the Collector's Edition, will run out and buy this one too.
News of this release comes from the official press release from Bethesda's www.elderscrolls.com. Versions will be available for the PC, PS3 and X360 and will include both the Knights of the Nine marketplace content and the Shivering Isles expansion pack. The GOTY edition coming in September, will allow those with Oblivion save files to continue with their game using the new disc and enjoy the new content without having to start over, that way this appeals to both new players and old. No price has been announced at this time however, so stay tuned for updates.

The newly formed official Bethesda blog has just recently put together a list of the major previews of Fallout 3 that gaming journalists have published based on their invitation to Washington DC last month for an exclusive first look. For anyone interested in this game there is a incredible amount of new information available and plenty to make old fans and new comers alike froth at the mouth.
Purists will be happy that the game doesn't recognize Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel or Fallout: Tactics as canon and takes place 30 years after Fallout 2. Day/night cycle, various weather patterns, licensed music from the 1940's, the hiring of mercenaries, multiple endings and many more features have been revealed. So far the general consensus is that it will please the die-hard purists who have judged it to be Oblivion with guns while appealing to fresh fans who haven't played the previous 2 games in the series.
The Bethesda blog located at www.bethblog.com has all of the details on the different previews as well as commentary on each and for convenience below is each preview listed for your reading pleasure.
Plenty of different takes, opinions and commentaries on what they've seen so far. I imagine it puts a lot of the fears to rest as well as creating more questions. A game of this magnitude will no doubt have plenty more media coverage as the months/years go by. As always, feel free to start a thread and discuss this or any other gaming topic on RF Generations's forums.
According to this weeks issue of the infamous Japanese gaming mag Famitsu, the lightgun series Time Crisis will be making it's way onto the PS3 this November. In the article they state that is will, among new features offer a completely accurate unaltered port of Time Crisis 4 as well as a new mission mode and PS3 exclusive scenarios.
To top it all off a third version of the Guncon peripheral which one can only assume will be compatible somehow with LCD TV's will be made.
Ironic that this news shows up today of all days, I just picked up a CIB Time Crisis II bundle which around these parts is hard to come by. It's nice to see that there is still interest in lightgun games, a trend perhaps re-invigorated by the Nintendo Wii and it's potential for them. Maybe if Namco can successfully counter the lack of scanlines in today's HDTV's with a good working model it will open the door to others as well.
Update: According to IGN the Guncon3 will also have 2 handles and an analog stick for the free-roaming levels in the game. I think that will really blend the lightgun genre with the action one. With arcades becoming few and far between for most of us it'll be our only chance to play this game. Fine by me as it's prob $1 a play anyway, better at home with 5.1 and beer.
