• Michael Edwards (born 1963) known as Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, became Great Britain's first Olympic ski jumper since 1929. He participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics where he finished last in both the 70m and 90m events. This lead to him becoming famous for being the underdog with his heroic failure.
