Title: The count to 1,000,000,000 thread
Post by: logical123 on July 30, 2008, 07:14:56 PM
Edit: Don't break the progression of the sequence. Also, your post must be something of importance, or it may be deleted. -TJ

Yeah, so I was board...

Stealing this idea from another thread, I say we start this up. You post the last number posted plus one. So I'm going to post 1, then the next post will be 2, etc. etc.  But! There will be a twist! A single member cannot post twice in a row. This makes it more of a challenge, and it is more fun! Let's Get Going!!!

Round, can you go around?
And if you can turn around without falling down
You can skate in a figure eight
If you can turn, if you can go straight

Turn left, go straight
Turn right, straight again
And then do it over
Repeat forever
That's all you need to know
That's the way you skate
In a figure eight

If you can grab a circle in your hands
And twist it, that's an eight

If it weren't for the Zamboni
You would never leave the ice
And I think I know the reason why
You never take a break
The sign that means forever
Is a sideways number eight

Turn left, go straight
Turn right, straight again
And then do it over
Repeat forever
That's all you need to know
That's the way you skate
In a figure eight

And if you twist the number zero
You will get the number eight

Turn left, go straight
Turn right, straight again
And then do it over
Repeat forever
That's all you need to know
That's the way you skate
In a figure eight

If you can grab a circle in your hands
And twist it, that's an eight
(If you can grab a circle in your hands
And twist it, that's an eight)

Twist the number zero
You will get the number eight

Funny thing is, you are completely correct. That is why people are not supposed to double post! And if you think about it, the idle chatter board never really makes any sense. Look at a SIX of the Series of Unfortunate Thoughs... Is that considered usless post count stuff? No! Of course not! Its all in the name of fun! Please, everybody, join in, and have some fun! :)

33 is NOT a prime number.

59 is the 17th smallest prime number. 59 is an irregular prime, a safe prime and the 14th supersingular prime. It is an Eisenstein prime with no imaginary part and real part of the form 3n − 1. Since 15! + 1 is divisible by 59 but 59 is not one more than a multiple of 15, 59 is a Pillai prime.

I just did the math, and if we post 1 number every hour, it will take 1,736,111 years to reach 1 billion.  :o
It goes down to 57,078 years if there is a post every half hour.
28538.812785388127853881278538813 years if we post every 15 minutes

EDIT: By the end of today, if we posted one # every hour, we should have 144 numbers.  ;)

When the Silvia was revived in the 1970s as a two-plus-two coupe to compete with the Toyota Celica, it was introduced in some countries as the "200SX". This references the displacement in the engine: 2.0 liters. Other similar Nissan badging also refers to engine displacement, most notably the Datsun 240Z (2.4L) and its successive car line, all the way to the present incarnation — the Nissan 350Z.

256 is:

    * The number of characters in the new Braille 8-dot system.
    * The number of different values in one byte, which makes it the typical number of different values in each color channel of a digital color image.
    * The number of columns in a standard Microsoft Excel worksheet.
    * The Split-Screen Level in Pacman
    * The number of counties in Texas.
    * The number of regular season football games in the NFL.

I think stating whether a number is prime/divisible by 2, 3, etc, or not is very important! Thank you very much!

295 is divisible by 5, and is thus not prime.

This synth was made to mimic a bass guitar but failed since it doesn't sound like a bass guitar at all. However, the 80s dance scene used this synth for many, many songs. Genres like Acid House were founded on this synth as well.
