Title: Voting: Genesis shmup retro playthrough
Post by: singlebanana on September 28, 2014, 09:46:32 PM
Same deal, PLEASE vote.

Please vote for the Genesis game you want to play in December. One vote per person. Result will be shown when the voting is over in 3 days. Please only vote if you are intending on joining the playthrough in December. Mods, please do not mention which game(s) are in the lead. I would like for the voting to remain untainted and for people to choose the game they really want to play. Thanks.

I'll have to abstain because I don't know jack diddly about any of these.

Morning bump, since I posted it late last night. :)

Looks like Gaiares and Raiden Trad were added since the original post...

Yeah, I added them this morning. Not very high priced titles and good games in the library. Voting is set so that people can change their vote at any time before the 3 days are up.

Yep - own both of them. I just wanted to point out that they were added in case anyone wanted to update their vote. ;)

I appreciate that and I should have done it after the update, just neglected to.

Thank goodness I am not the only one. My knowledge of Genesis stuff is limited to Sonic for the most part...ha ha I will still vote though for the one I would want to play, but just like the SNES stuff, I have no knowledge prior to research. ha ha

just make sure that you're voting for something you plan on actually joining in on, we're trying to avoid having people vote but then not actually join in the playthrough.

I have four of the eleven shown. And I get the feeling there may be a runoff vote after the first one has elapsed. So let me put my ballot in, and we'll see how it shakes out.

For sure, that is why I jokingly said someone could buy my vote in the SNES voting. ha ha

If the game is Sol-Deace, can we play Sol-Feace on Sega CD? I'm pretty sure it's the same exact game.

Normally I would allow people to play alternate versions of titles, but since this is a competition month, I think people should play the same game. I can't take the time to go through and account for every enemy or point per kill in each game, so I feel it best that we stick with the exact title picked. With that said, if any of these titles are downloadable, I'm okay with that since it's still the same game only directly ported.

That makes sense. No problem.

Thanks for understanding and I hope this isn't an issue for your participation. With all of the Genesis titles to choose from the voting is very spread out at this point. I'm really curious to see how this goes.

I only own about 25% of the shmup titles we've voted on so I came into this with the expectations of playing some titles I've never played before  :).  I had never really heard of 2 of the Genesis titles so I didn't vote for them, but now looking at some pics I wish I had voted differently.

Spoiler (hover to show)

How?

Sorry, option was not checked, but I have fixed that now. Just click "remove vote" in poll and re-vote.

Yeah Mike. Results should be up. Looks like Lightning Force is the winner with 4 total votes. Truxton and Gaiares were next with 2.

Cool! ordering today. I was really hoping we would have at least one vertical-scrolling shooter, but it's looking like a Horizontal-only month! lol

Yeah, so was I. Oh well, looks like there are two candidates on the PSX list.

Oh yeah..... I'm that weirdo who voted for Hellfire. I'm a big fan of the color-changing, firing directional control of that game. It's very well integrated and I'd say a shmup that people should be on the lookout for.

I was one of two voting for Truxton. I wanted a vert-scrolling shmup!

Lightening Force scrolls vertically AND horizontally.

Darn. No Fireshark!?!? Oh well. I'll definitely take part in this, as I think I have all of the winning games.

Yeah, we had a suggestion thread before the voting started. We could have dedicated an entire month to Genesis shmups. So many fantastic titles on that system!
