Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: shadytool on October 10, 2004, 05:25:28 AM i was thinking rob zombie was the sin to put up there. what has he done?
dre on the other had has put out two of the greatest (rap / hip-hop i dont know what you call it) albums of all time. influenced many artists while doing it and sent the genre in new directions each time. Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: sinning.dragon on October 10, 2004, 10:52:15 AM Ok, Rob Zombie is definetely more than ridiculous. I don't think even he knows what he is doing. Dre, though? I'm not sure you can call what he does 'music'.

My early twenties were weird. Go ahead and take them off and add Dream Theater.
Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: GrayGhost81 on June 26, 2013, 07:25:04 PM I always answer Nirvana to this question, but they only had three proper albums and Kurt's been dead for almost twenty years.
Then I think it's Sleater-Kinney, but they broke up a while ago and I didn't really love their last album. Damn, I don't know. Sometimes I'll like a band for a while and then just stop following them if they make on album I don't like. Title: Re: Post by: TheSaintOfPain on June 27, 2013, 02:14:28 PM Lynyrd Skynyrd

Megadeth Annihilator Iron Maiden Pantera Down Children of Bodom Arch Enemy Opeth Zakk Wylde / Black Label Society Alice In Chains Soundgarden Guns 'N Roses Dream Theater Dark Tranquillity Corrosion of Conformity Motorhead Jimi Hendrix Black Sabbath Judas Priest Slayer Iced Earth And some stuff way out of left field given the list above: Tom Waits (love his early jazz/blues piano work, also a lot of his rock and folk influenced songs, not a big fan of his more 'experimental' work though) Elton John (really like some of his stuff) Garth Brooks (used to be a big fan when I was kid, before discovering rock/metal. still like some of his songs) I also like a lot of classic rock (CCR, Bob Seger, etc.) but never really go out of my way to listen to it Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: singlebanana on November 14, 2013, 09:57:10 AM Tom Waits (love his early jazz/blues piano work, also a lot of his rock and folk influenced songs, not a big fan of his more 'experimental' work though) Elton John (really like some of his stuff) Waits "Black Rider" is a great album that I still listen to from time to time. His stuff can be hit or miss, but the good stuff is great. Elton is a surprise on your list, considering the other bands you mentioned previously. Good for you for putting him on there. I think some of his later stuff got a little sappy, but his early work is amazing. People tend to write him off and not give him enough credit for being a really talented writer and musician. I saw him a few years ago with Billy Joel, great show. Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: InvadErGII on November 14, 2013, 10:03:33 AM I made a point once to make a list, so when I said stupid stuff like "definitely one of my top 10 bands of all time" I could be consistent about it. My list, in no particular order, is:
Nine Inch Nails R.E.M. Michael Jackson Ryan Adams Porcupine Tree Radiohead They Might Be Giants The Beatles Jars of Clay Soul Coughing I have weird taste in music. Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: Disposed Hero on November 14, 2013, 10:44:06 AM Tom Waits (love his early jazz/blues piano work, also a lot of his rock and folk influenced songs, not a big fan of his more 'experimental' work though) Elton John (really like some of his stuff) Waits "Black Rider" is a great album that I still listen to from time to time. I saw him a few years ago with Billy Joel, great show. Yeah, I agree 100% about Waits' music being hit or miss. Every song I hear by him is pretty much 'love it or hate it'. I'm not really that familiar with Elton John's music, but I'm pretty sure the only songs I really listen to are his older ones. Anytime I think about his newer stuff, I always think of the soundtrack to the Lion King. No thanks.... Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: russlyman on November 14, 2013, 10:46:05 AM I'll throw a list up here. In no order some bands I enjoy include.

Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: Sauza12 on November 14, 2013, 08:53:09 PM Opeth I discovered Opeth about 2 years ago and they have rapidly become one of my favorite bands. Blackwater Park rightfully gets a lot of praise as their best album, but I fell in love with Ghost Reveries. I'd easily put that into my top ten albums of all time. Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: Disposed Hero on November 14, 2013, 09:31:38 PM Opeth I discovered Opeth about 2 years ago and they have rapidly become one of my favorite bands. I discovered them several years ago, and they were one of my top favorites for a couple of years. I don't listen to them nearly as much as I used to though. Blackwater Park and Ghost Reveries are both excellent albums, but I've always been partial to My Arms, Your Hearse. I still haven't listened to their latest album. Title: Re: favorite bands Post by: Dergatron9000 on December 06, 2013, 09:19:27 AM I don't really listen to a lot of "bands". But I came across this band called Allah-Las a while ago and had never heard of them. I aquired their self titled album and it is one of the few albums I have ever been able to listen to start to finish. I find my self just throwing on the whole album instead of a playlist lately. I Highly recommend checking them out. Very chill laidback rock music.
