Title: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: Shepy on August 06, 2013, 11:48:21 PM
Dear People that usually organize this (Shadow? or bickman?),

Is it going to happen this year?

Sincerely,

Your favorite occasional RFC Chatter

bickman's organized it the past couple years. What site did we want to use this year?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: blcklblskt on August 07, 2013, 10:56:37 AM
Yahoo has been the only site I've used and I've been happy with it.

I just sent out invites to those who played last year. Still on Yahoo.

EDIT: Any requests or recommendations for this year?

EDIT 2: I also upped the number of teams we can have to 16 total, so if someone wants to get in that didn't last year, let me know and I can send you an invite.

Tell my players to stop injuring themselves?

The preseason is overruling me on that front.  :stick:

We had three WR per team last year, right?  Could we change that to 3 RB instead, or even an option to have either 3 WR or 3 RB?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013

Great idea. Post your playable players per week ideas!

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on August 07, 2013, 04:34:21 PM
...well, we certainly had a depth issue last year, and personally I BURNED through WRs and RBs. Really, either wouldn't bother me, though I think RBs had a more consistent point range.

I have already killed the no-cut list.

I'd like to take part this year, although I also am in a league on NFL.com.

We currently have 6/10 from last year and I have sent invites to Techie413 and monkees19. Would everyone prefer a live draft or autodraft?

I have already killed the no-cut list.

Thanks. The no-cut killed me last year.

Autodraft is fine by me. Because the draft is timed for the US (understandably!) I always end up missing it anyway.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: Shepy on August 10, 2013, 10:05:00 AM
I'd like live draft but either way is fine. All I really need to know is the date of the draft so I know when to setup my pre-draft rankings.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: bickman2k on August 12, 2013, 09:03:15 AM
I think I'm going to set it up for autodraft on the latest day in August so I can make changes to the league as needed. Get your pre-draft lineups set!

I'll miss not having a live draft, but auto-draft might not be the worst... You can set a personal player ranking, even test drive it in mock drafts and see how it works beforehand. Then you still get the long game of team management, trading, waiver acquisitions, etc... I think I can live with it. :)

I'm going to make a cut off for signups this Friday and draft next Friday. We have 10 teams currently. Is there anyone else that wants in? We need an even number.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013

10 should be fine. Didn't we have 10 people last year as well?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: Shadow Kisuragi on August 22, 2013, 05:28:06 PM
Yeah, but I didn't jump in yet because it went to my yahoo email, not my gmail. Damn.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: theGrue on August 22, 2013, 08:08:54 PM
I have a friend who was looking for a league to join to try out fantasy football, so if we go odd numbered I could just get him to sign up here, haha. He has started a bit of an SNES collection, so it wouldn't be that big of a stretch!

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: bickman2k on August 23, 2013, 09:12:05 AM
We're currently at 11 (insert Spinal Tap joke here), with 2 players from last year still to sign up. I sent them messages about it, so if we get one of them in, we're solid. If both join, we'll need another.

EDIT: One of the 2 has declined, so if we get the last person in, I'm closing registration.

We have 12 teams now! I'll set the draft to pick on Friday unless everyone is okay with drafting any time this week.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: monkees19 on August 26, 2013, 12:20:07 PM
I'm fine with it. I work overnights so trying to plan a live draft with me included might be too much of a challenge.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: RetroRage on August 26, 2013, 09:07:08 PM
So the auto-draft...basically a computer sets up our draft picks in the order we set our pre-draft rankings and gives us the highest available player on that list, am i right?

Almost! It completely fills your starting lineup, including D/ST and K, before taking any bench players. So if it rolls around to your pick and you already have 2 RBs, but an RB is at the top of your list, it'll go down your list to the next position needed among your starters.

Then for bench slots I believe there's some logic in there to grab you a balanced amount of RBs, WRs, and a backup QB and TE based on your rankings.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013
Post by: Sirgin on August 27, 2013, 08:01:32 PM
Question: if we change some of the auto rankings for the top 50 (or so) players, do we still get to keep the standard rankings for players ranked #50+?

I'm going to set it to draft tonight before I go to bed, so you should have another 10-11 hours to set your lineup.

Heh i noticed that last night.  Seattle's DEF was my first priority but i probably asked for it too late in the draft.  I'm happy with Houston's defense.  J.J. Swatt!

I'm very happy with my team.  My third WR and TE are kind of weak, but hopefully i can fix that with waivers soon.   Looks like there are still some decent players out there

Changed my league name - Ride the Lightning! (points for the multiple references on it). Playing against Grue (Holy Magic Justice - nice reference).

10 Yard Fighters - Project Nintendo
Delicious Meat - ?
Holy Magic Justice - theGrue
Life's a Brees - monkees19
Ride the Lightning - Shadow Kisuragi
Retropolis Zone - RetroRage
The Runaway Five - bickman2k
Seamar's Snakes - Seamar
Sirgin's Strikers - Sirgin
Snake River Stags - ?
Wyld Stallyns - nupoile
ZIRL - blck

Techie, den and monkees aren't on that list yet. I recognize two of those names from former years though.  ;)
Time to update the first post with the team names.

Wow, Peyton.  You couldn't give at least one of your 7 touchdowns to Decker?  Thanks a lot, man.

I don't think Tony Romo is going to get me 46 points like Peyton did for Retro Rage...

Sweet list, Shadow!

Could you paste that (once it is complete, perhaps) into the first post of this thread? That makes it easier to see who we're going against every week.

That's why I want to have a flex position available.  I have 3 RBs I could start this week, but I'm stuck starting only 2 while my WRs are so-so (Decker excluded).

Yeah, they took out Bernard to have Green-Ellis jam the ball. Thanks for stealing all the points from A.J. Green though - for once, I wanted him to tank since I was facing him and the Bengals D last night, and needed them to score less than 18. Woo!

Dalton is reliable and had been for two years.  Kaepernick played 7 games last year.  Thats too small of a sample set to call him elite, i think he's over rated.

Incidentally, screw Detroit for making the decision on CJ so late. I started Tony Romo in my other league, had 2 15+ RBs on my bench, started CJ, and yet I'm still winning in that league by 65 points. Wish I had that week here.

Techie, if you could keep Tony Gonzales, and by way Atlanta, from getting more than 2 points, we'd both appreciate it. ;)

^Yeah, I have CJ in another league too.  Luckily, my opponent bombed anyway.

Next year: Definitely add a FLEX position.

Anybody have a TE they can unload?  My guy is banged up and my back up might as well be

It's not much, but I have Kyle Rudolph. I don't know why I'm going ahead with the trade for Cobb at this point, as I have quite a few replacement RB options now that people have been sorting through players for the week, and WR options are thin.

My bench is really bad.  I have santana moss sitting out,  and I'm really thinking about replacing Vincent Jackson for him.   Tampa Bay is ugly so far

Well, I forgot to swap out Kerley today. I'm guessing that it doesn't really matter, though.

Half of my team is on their bye week this week. :P

I thought you were just being a gentleman and sitting someone out to match the player I had on a bye but forgot to change Sirgin.

I got SMASHED today.   Megetron and Stafford beat me alone.

...I tried to be nice and played Kerley.

Nope, I'm not that nice. I just wasn't prepared to pick up a FA (and dump one of my bye week players) for one game. :P

I'M TOTALLY THAT KIND OF GENTLEMAN. ;)

Willing to move Jimmy Graham for one?

Nah, I don't think I can.  He's the only reason I can win games.  :)

On any given Sunday the last place team can walk all over the first place team.

WOOT! WOOT!

Are you saying you're the Jacksonville Jaguars of the RfGen FF league?  ;)

Vincent Jackson needs to have the game of his life tonight in order to win my matchup.

I've been catching up - 2nd now, only 30 pts behind for Points For. Seamar's going to be a tough opponent this week though.

Receivers, GO! 45 pts from 2 WRs, and it's not even the 2-minute warning of the 2nd quarter.

I can't believe the game Den is having right now.  3 players doubling their projections and McCoy nearly doubling his.  I'd be surprised if even get near his score.

I don't think I've ever been a part of a closer matchup. I won by 0.38 points. Wow.

I have 4 players out on BYE and I can only sub in one position.  I don't have a prayer this week.

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013

I had 3 on BYE... had somewhat adequate backups prepared. Yet, I somehow end up playing against Grue, who had no problem fielding players this week

Team's set...looking at 105.82 for Orig Proj. Not quite as good as monkees, but I'll take it. My only saving grace this week may be the DET @ TB matchup.

Does the Top 8 or Top 6 make the FF playoffs?

Title: Re: Fantasy Football 2013

Top 8.  Top 4 compete for first place, and 5-8 compete for fifth place.

Looks like Retropolis is going to secure the last playoff spot.  I'm about 100 points behind him, and I need to win if he loses this week to get into 4th place.

^You said it.  5 touchdowns for Jamaal Charles, and only 1 of them was an actual rushing TD?  Insane!  I also enjoyed seeing Greg Jennings give Project Nintendo 22 points seeing as how after I drafted him in the 7th round, he failed to put up more than two points most of the season.

Flex position and no autodraft next season, please.  :)
