Title: Can A Dust Protector Crush A Cartridge?
Post by: Atari6600 on September 11, 2015, 03:04:22 PM
So, I recently went onto Amazon, because it was the only place I could find anything, and ordered a six pack of Genesis cartridge dust protectors.  There's just one problem...they're a very tight fit...almost too tight.  It's a struggle to attach the protector to the bottom of the cartridge and I'm worried it's TOO tight a fight.

Is it possible for a protector to be too tight and risking crushing the game card, rendering it unplayable?

It sounds highly unlikely but I have a solution for your problem that might work depending on if the protector is made from the right plastic. Just boil the protectors for a bit under a minute, dry them well quickly and fit them on to the cartridges. As they cool they should stay in their loosened state, fitting your carts better.

Yep, do it like molding a mouth piece. Let it boil for a bit, use tongs and quickly dunk it in a bowl of cold water, dry very quick and put it on the cart.
