Title: Chasing baseball legends and STEROIDS!, (Bonds)
Post by: captain_nintendo on March 08, 2006, 09:20:31 AM
So there is a new book coming out with hard evidence about Barry Bonds and his use of performance enhancers.

I for one do not like Bonds one bit. Not because he uses or used performance enhancers. Hell almost everybody in the Majors was probably doing it or trying it at one point ???

Bonds is an arrogant S.O.B and racist to boot.
For him, beating out Babe Ruth is far more important than beating out Aaron.

According to the book and from what I have heard on sports talk radio, Bond was upset with all of the publicity McGwire was getting back in 98. One time the Giants slugger "went off" when they roped off batting practice for McGwire while the Cardinals were visiting the Giants.  "Not in my Fucking house" (or something to that effect)

Look, Bonds is/was a great player. I believe he would have been a hall of famer without performance enhancers.

What now Barry? More lies? Gonna break a record that was set in an era without performance enhancers?

You couldn't hold Ruth or Aaron's jock strap Barry.

You cant single them out. A very high percentage of MLB was doing some sort of performance enhancer.

baseball is a sport                but all kidding aside I would like to know what planet most people live on steroids have been around and used for decades not to mention probally tons of other kinds of drugs. You think all the weight lifters and pro bodybuilders got that big and strong for eating their vegies. Sports anymore are not about people enjoying playing the game its all about money. Baseball was slowing dying after the strike until the homerun chase between sosa and mcguire..baseball at that time sure didnt start accusing either of steroid use because it would of ruined the homerun chase. I agree Bonds is the worse example for a baseball player.. how many world series has he won..great players make thoses around them better...  Bonds only plays for himself..but the steroids come on you probally have figure skates that take them...What about back in the day when the football players got all hopped up on cocanie and played....I think they should just drop the whole issuse and focus on the fact Bonds more or less only cares about personal goals

to add to the steroid topic my dad when he pulled horses back in the 60s and 70s at fairs  and first place was only a trophy   but the old farmers gave their horses steroids and cocaine just to win..   in this day and age its all about winning and people do what ever it takes to win..

Just makes Babe Ruth's statistics even more impressive.

.342 lifetime batting average.
714 Home Runs
2213 RBI
2174 Runs scored
2062 walks.

Never heard of him taking any performance enhancers  ;)

Not to mention he was an awesome pitcher as well  :o

Ruth would take performance detractors, and he still did all of that.  Nothing affects a performance more than a night out getting drunk and wailing away on a hooker until the wee hours.

difficult to tell with Bonds whether the expanding size of his cranium is due more to his steroid use or overblown ego. most likely it's a combination of the two. if so, one day his head will surely explode Scanners style.

Sadly, no. He will never admit anything. Everybody knows, but can't prove. I think the investigation will be a waste of time. Bonds is probably off the stuff for good, so unless they get some top notch tests......it's all worthless. Steroids really ticks me off & makes me start to lose interest in baseball.

Title: Re: Chasing baseball legends and STEROIDS!, (Bonds
Post by: captain_nintendo on April 03, 2006, 06:14:07 AM
They should save the samples from these test and retest them years down the road when the testing has caught up with whatever they are using now.

And I mean that for every player being tested now. The stuff Balco was / is selling supposedly was completely invisible to todays testing standards.

Bonds passing Ruth and Aaron pisses me off.

Reread my first post  ;)

I agree with you. He is racist, and isnt Aaron like a relative of sorts?

Also, who knows if the investigation may end his career?

Any bets on any of the major players being suspended this year due to the new policy?

Cheating is part of sports you people need to realize that. So what he is going to pass the records. Does it suck? Sure but nothing can be proved. If you want to stop cheating stop paying people millions of dollars to play. If every player made the same abount of cash no matter what then people would stop messing themselves up to get the edge.

Title: Re: Chasing baseball legends and STEROIDS!, (Bonds
Post by: captain_nintendo on April 03, 2006, 03:38:31 PM
I guess it does suck. Would we stand up and make a big stink if it werent for Bonds being such an asshole? Maybe, maybe not.

But he is closing in on a record that is sacred in Baseball. I think this pursuit of the steroid issue would be under the microscope even if it were another player who was on the juice.

I am pretty sure Ruth hit every homerun without a performance enhancer.(probably the same goes for Aaron)

I have.  It's actually pretty decent.  Sure he has creative control, wouldn't you want that if you were in his situation?

He's a jerk, he's a cheat, and he's a liar.  I still can't blame him for trying to show a better side of himself.  I don't believe it for a second, but still...

Hopefully he gets caught using enhancers and is banned from baseball before he does pass Ruth.

He quit baseball because he know all the heat he was going to get  just like Bonds is. And don't give me that BS is was Andro. I am sure he did more then just that.

I agree Mcgwire was on roids. It sucks, and it sucks that Baseball did not have rules against it.  But the type of enhancers that Bonds is / was on is like night and day to what Mcgwire was probably on.

Hell, even the crap Palmero was on (or at least got cuaght on in his test) was a roid, but it wasn't HGH or the "cream and clear". Palemro's "roid" was basically a "cutting agent".

I am just glad Major League Baseball now has a real policy with a whole lot of time of and banishment eventually if caught.

I am sure every year some guy is going to invent some new enhancer that will be undetectable that year or for a few years. I think MLB should save these samples every year and go back and test them with the new testing that becomes availible every year.

I dont think enhancers will ever be out of the sport completely, but at least what MLB is doing now is a good start.

I am fairly certain that steroids are legal; however, you must get a prescription for their use. I don't remember which illnesses they are used for, but I know that they are used for legitimate medical reasons.

As far as I know, they are used in rehab for the most part. But you do need a perscription. So when these players in the NFL,NHL or MLB test positive, why arent these prosecuted by the law ??? Seriously? They should be!

SOME steroids are legal.  Not all of them.  And not all steroids are "muscle" enhancers.  They do a ton of things.  I was on a steroid for a week once for a terrible case of poison oak.

I want Bonds to pass Ruth so maybe you guys and the rest of teh country will stop crying. Like it  or not sreroids are part of the game. NOthing will be done about the records. There will be no * next to anything.

I think it is funny people love MCGwire and Sosa yet hate Bonds. They all did steroids.

And you already know I hate intentional walks. If anything I think you should only be aloud one a game.

I hate 'em all, Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Giambi. Sure steroids are a part of the game, but they don't have to be. I personally just hate watching the powerhouse players. It seems like lately all baseball's been about is home runs and how many steroids the people who have been hitting them take. I say kick all the bastards out. I want to see players who can solidly knock in hits and then move fast enough to make 'em count. Players who play smart.

Now let's see...I hate intentional walks too. I also hate how much a hamburger costs at the stadium. And how they designed our latest stadium so that there are parts of the stands where you can't see the whole field. And how Pete Rose is still being shafted (admit him you bastards!).

I agree with what you said. But as long as people are being paid millions of dollars people will do whatever they can for an edge.

Homeruns are what makes the highlight reel. So thats why baseball is all about homeruns now a days.  I think it is more impressive that someone hits .380 then 50 homeruns.

Make the picthers earn their paycheck. NO INTENTIONAL WALKS!!!! People hate Barry Bonds but they still pay to see him hit homeruns not be walked 3-4 times a game. Baseball is boring enough without crap like that.

If Pete Rose only knew that you could do drugs, kill a person, rape someone or do massive amounts of drugs and still be in the hall of fame I am sure he would not have bet on baseball..  ::) I agree he should be in the Hall.

He recently said that he was going to keep playing until he passed the all time home run record (not just Hank Aaron's record, the world record).  That's held by some Japanese player whose last name is Oh.  Don't ask me his first name because it's something wacky that I don't remember.  He has 868 career homers.

Yeah, right. ::)

He didn't say that.  Some radio announcer that says he's "close personal friends" with Bonds, said that he mentioned it to him.

Bonds won't even break Hank Aaron's record and he knows it.  Just look at his recent interviews.

What would have saved Bonds and made him forever known for awesomeness was retiring when he hit the record ball and then not run the bases.

He would have hit it but he would have been honoring those before him and he would have been praised and it would have saved him.

As it stands now...boo!
