Title: Biggest insult to your collection?
Post by: ganonbanned on August 15, 2008, 02:47:46 PM
Me?  Either the fact that I have more Gamecube games than NES/SNES/genesis/N64 games (Not combined, just in general).

Either that or 2 infamous N64 games that I happen to have, Castlevania:legacy of darkness, or mortal kombat mythologies: subzero.

NES games released after their Famicom counterparts, where the NES version strips out the good stuff. Case and point: the NES's Bionic Commando vs. the Famicom's Hitler no Fukkatsu.

Same here.  Mostly because the GC era was the first in which I started actively buying video games.

Honestly, though, I can't think of something in my collection that is, as you call it, an insult to it.  All I can think of are people insulting my collection because they find it a little odd.

I don't know if I would call it an insult but I have the one handed ps1 controller. I tried playing it with legend of legendia but discovered that moving in a straight line was a tad hard.

I got VIP for the PS, just to see how crappy it was.

It was very crappy, but I still own it.

My Nintendo DS collection.

CAKE MANIA, COOKING MAMA 1 & 2, Crayola Treasures, The Grinch,  etc.

Most of my DS collection was purchase by my wife or for my wife, with the exception of a few good titles. Zelda, Mario, Contra.

Seriously?  I've never seen the genesis over $25!!! except for on ebay, of courses.

Maybe he's wanting a CIB system? Try finding a decent Genesis CIB that doesn't look like it's beat all to hell for under $25. Most likely it's a lucky find if you do.

I don't have an insult to my collection, I'm pretty happy about it :)

Maybe an insult (or something I'm a bit ashamed of) to me as a gamer is that my first console was a PS2 (if you don't count handhelds) My parents used to be very strict on videogames during most of my youth, so for a long time, consoles were out of the question. I had to restrict myself to PC and was allowed to have maybe 3-4 new games per year.

Luckily that's all in the past, I'm 19 now, and I can do whatever I want :P

My Tiger Handheld collection. Personally I love it. Most people laugh like hell when they see/hear about it. I have over 100 Tiger LCDs released between 87-98. The "crap" ones.

Ok so I'm not being entirely honest. The Full House and M.C. Hammer titles are totally to laugh over.

Lord of the Ring: Fellowship of the Ring on the GBA.
It only cost me 2 bucks but if I had know all the bugs that were in there I wouldn't have bothered.

I don't really have an insult per say, but I kinda consider it sad that I only just got a PS2 last year.  :speechless:

Nothing other than that, really...

Think that's sad?  I don't even have a PS2, but I'm planning on buying one as my... something like tri-yearly new console purchase.

I'm so behind.

I guess the fact that I've got around a dozen Sega Master System and Xbox games, but neither of those systems. I used to be able to say the same thing with the 3DO, but I did find of those, so it is no longer an insult.

Honestly nothing. I like all of my games and I don't think I've ever purchased a bad game. I might have purchased games I was slightly disappointed with but never a bad game. I tend to do a ton of research before I rush out and purchase something.

Yep, but it came with a few other things.  I'm still going to keep it though.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I bought this because I loved the pc version. This was such a disappointment. And then I bought it again for the Master System. I figured 'Hey they can't screw it up twice'. I'm such an optimist. I don't think I'll ever learn.

With good reason. Even if you don't play it, it's still part of the collection.

  • I own twice the PS1 games as the resident fanboy, Tondog.
  • The Power Glove, it's so bad.
  • lack of Wii games
  • lack of a DS

and finally...

  • not one, but both variants of Sonic Shuffle

of course these aren't to be confused with guilty pleasures which include many of the early Pokemon games, most all releases and US variants of the Dead or Alive and Halo series, and a number of Xbox 360 sports games to pad my gamerscore.  (Thanks to Tynstar for getting me hooked on that.)

  • The Power Glove, it's so bad.

True but it is a pretty hard find.  at least around here it is.

for mine I'd have to say the fact that I own more PS2 games than I do classic games.

Biggest insult to my collection is that I am one item away from completing five different system libraries. Due to $, I don't see myself completing them anytime soon either.

Not so much an insult, but a reminder of naivety. Early on when I got back into gaming with the Xbox, I bought a copy of Marvel vs Capcom 2 CIB. Later on I traded it in (not knowing anything about market values, rarity, etc.) and picked up a copy of NBA Street 2. Great game...but damn I wish I had that Xbox copy of MvC2 right now. :-\

I've kept my NBA Street 2 as a reminder...and it's not worth anything in trade anyway. Live and learn. :P

That's not an insult, that's very impressive! :o

Atleast you can say you're only 1 game away from completing a collection instead of saying "I need 300 more NES games to complete my collection" or something ;)

One time someone told me that nobody would ever love me because of my video game collection. I know that's a different kind of insult entirely, but there's nothing in my collection that I'm not proud of. Not even the really bad games.

Don't listen to that shit because it's nonsense.  >:(

Videogames have never been more popular, selling in the millions, something the record business has much more difficulties with.
If people want to be conservative retards who think that videogames are only for little kids, let them be. There are a lot of gamers out there who'll deny being one when they're in public, too. Which is very sad, trying to hide who you really are :(

That said, I do own some pretty cheapass crap games for the PC.

Mine is probably that I have like 6 Genesis, 2 Sega CD, and about 40 games for them while I have 1 SNES and like 10 games.

I grew up in an all Nintendo console household.

I'm sorry Nintendo overlords please forgive me  :P

What is the biggest insult?
Well, by insult I'm guessing what is an embarrassment as well. That would the 66 arcade boards I have had for well over a year now and have only started up and played 7 of them! The 7 are JAMMA and the rest are PCBs of games like Pac-Man, Galaga, Rampart, Hot Rod, Frogger, ZAXXON, and After Burner. Due to space limitations I cannot build an arcade and to create a Super Gun would be ugly with what I have available at home. Until I have my own place it's infeasible to even start really getting into them, which may be another year or so.

Maybe an insult (or something I'm a bit ashamed of) to me as a gamer is that my first console was a PS2 (if you don't count handhelds) My parents used to be very strict on videogames during most of my youth, so for a long time, consoles were out of the question. Sounds like you are in a similar boat that I was in 4 years ago. I grew up with just a SMS and a few games from back in '89 up until '96 or '97 when I got a Game Gear! We use to go to Funcoland every few months to pick out a GG title, and they were cheap compared to the GB titles. I still enjoy that handheld quite a bit regardless and with games still being inexpensive it's fun to collect for and game. in '95 my parents got a computer handed down from a grandparent and so my use of a computer took off from then on, playing titles like Descent, Warcraft, Commander Keen, Kings Quest, Duke Nukem, Doom, Heretic, and so forth.
