Title: DDR Mats Post by: Odonadon on January 09, 2005, 09:03:47 PM Well, I finally tried DDR for the very first time (DDR Ultramix 2 to be more specific), only I used the gamepad to control it. It was kind of fun, but I know that's not the way to play the game. I checked out some mats on eBay, and found I can two for like $50 (including shipping), but am a little afraid it's a crap brand or something. Anybody know anything about these? Which brands are good? Which ones suck? Are they all the same?
Here's the auction I'm referring to: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=8160030873&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT Thanks, OD Title: Re: DDR Mats Post by: Antimind on January 09, 2005, 09:31:10 PM I've only ever used 3rd party mats and haven't had a problem. First off there are different types of mats. Soft which are very common and cheap, thick/soft which will handle more abuse but pricey, and hard which are arcade style and very expensive. I'd say go with the soft...
The important thing to do if you'd like your mats to survive is to mod them. At the very least, go get some plywood cut and tape them down to it. The problem with soft mats is that the "warp" over time but if you attach them to a hard surface they're fine. There are plenty of sites out there on the topic. Some even have photos and instructions on DDR mat mods. I suggest doing a little research and making a decision from there. |
