Title: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Razor Knuckles on July 23, 2012, 01:38:14 PM Hey guys, this is just a simple question to see where it all started for you. Think back, way back. What is the first game you recall playing. And how old were you if you remember? And what year was it?
This subject interests me to see what you guys remember playing for the very first time. So I'll start out by saying that my first gaming memory came from the Sega Genesis. It was a Christmas gift from my parents to my older brother and me. It was the early 90's I think it was Christmas of '93 when it came packaged with Sonic 2. Sonic 2 was the only game we had as it was bundled with the system. As far a my memory serves me that is the first game I remembered playing. I didn't really have a clue what I was doing in the game as I was only 5 years old. But I can recall the rush I used to have simply because I had control over what I saw on screen. That was the biggest thing that got me into games at that time. Just the simple fact that I could command the screen to do what I wanted it to do was such an awesome feeling. So whats your first memory? Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: SirPsycho on July 23, 2012, 01:41:43 PM Super Mario Bros. at my cousin's when I was probably 3 or 4.
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: mumboking on July 23, 2012, 02:04:37 PM Probably one of the following:
Mega Drive: Chuck Rock Columns Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge Mega Games 1 Paperboy QuackShot Sonic 2 World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck SNES: Addams Family Street Fighter 2 Turbo Super Mario All-Stars They're the first consoles my mum bought, second hand though. The first game that I ever got was Hot Wheels Turbo Racing for the PS1. I got it for Christmas. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: bum-man on July 23, 2012, 10:29:42 PM I actually remember my mom giving my sister and I money to play a Pong arcade game that got installed in a small diner we went to occasionally. The first "home" game I played was on a Commodore PET at a friends house. Don't remember the name of the game but it was a similar to Surround on the 2600.
Needless to say I am old!!! Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: techwizard on July 24, 2012, 01:21:22 AM i don't remember for sure but most likely either super mario bros, duck hunt, super mario bros 3, or teenage mutant ninja turtles. i would have been 3 or 4, i don't think my family had any consoles of our own until i was maybe 5 or 6 at the earliest, possibly 7. my grandparents had an nes at their vacation property though and i used to play that when we went on trips as much or more than i played outside.
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Crabmaster2000 on July 24, 2012, 04:28:04 AM We had an Atari 2600 around the house since as far back as I can remember. I think we had 2-3 games for it, but the only one I remember playing was "Iceburg" , which after being reminded several times by singlebanana is actually called Frostbite. That system didnt start my gaming lifestyle though.
The first game that rocked my world was watching my cousin play Mega Man 2 with his friends. I bugged my parents until we ended up with a second hand NES at home and a nice little copy of SMB/DH to call our very own :D I'm on the right with the cousin that got me into gaming. He brought his system to our place before we got ours. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: singlebanana on July 24, 2012, 08:26:21 AM I don't know if I can recall the "first" game I ever played, but my earliest memory is "Grand Prix" on the 2600. My cousin had a system and my grandmother would always play with us. I vividly remember her screaming in excitement every time she had an "electroshock" sounding wreck. For those who have played it, you know what I'm talking about.
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: blcklblskt on July 24, 2012, 04:59:06 PM I can't really remember the frst game I played, but it was probably something on the SNES or NES. When I was very small, my dad would sit me in a laundry basket while he played the SNES. :)
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: bombatomba on July 24, 2012, 05:28:20 PM The first game I remember playing was U.F.O! for my parents Odyssey^2 back in '80. I played the crap out of it until the game system mysteriously disappear on day after Sunday school (my old man hated the graphics on it).
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: techwizard on July 24, 2012, 06:53:41 PM i had that happen with a lot of my systems when i was young, my parents thought once we had the newest console that we would never play the old ones so they would always sell them without asking. we would come home from school to find only one system instead of 2 or 3.
that had a small role to play in my initial reasons to start going after old systems, i wanted to get back everything that my parents had sold off :P. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Fokakis79 on July 24, 2012, 09:26:05 PM It was either Circus or Pitfall for the Atari 2600, I must have been around 4 or 5 years old
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: RobotCowhand on July 25, 2012, 09:14:20 AM Cops 'n' Robbers for the Vic20. I was about 4 years old. I even remember us being in the store buying it :)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cops_'n'_Robbers I know I was playing games before that, but it's the first one I could give you the name of. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Leynos on July 30, 2012, 01:27:03 AM Superman on Atari 2600
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: bickman2k on July 30, 2012, 09:45:14 AM I have some vague memories of playing my parents' Intellivision, but no games stick out.
Naturally, the first one I have actual memories of is Super Mario Bros. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: a_hub10 on August 22, 2012, 04:18:56 PM Super Mario 3 on the Super Mario Allstars + World cartridge that came with my SNES.

Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: OatBob on August 28, 2012, 09:52:24 PM at home... 2600 games of my dad's... ET, Video Pinball, Missile Command, Basketball
this memory dates to circa 1990... when I would have been about 5 Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Duke.Togo on August 28, 2012, 11:16:32 PM I'm pretty sure it would have to be Combat or Video Olympics on the 2600. Or maybe Canyon Bomber?
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Addicted on August 29, 2012, 06:36:40 AM It would either be Superman or Jungle Hunt for the 2600.
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: Silent Scythe on August 29, 2012, 07:12:13 AM I can clearly remember watching my older siblings playing Metroid, Double Dragon, Friday the 13th, Ninja Gaiden and Mega Man 3 when I was pretty young.
I on the other hand only remember playing Super Mario Bros. and Monster Party. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: gamer2112 on August 29, 2012, 10:14:46 AM First had to be some arcade game, I guess. I was a gamer before consoles came along. First home game was probably Coleco Pong. I do remember a friend at school told me about Space Invaders on the 2600, got that (with Combat) shortly after.

Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: No on August 31, 2012, 09:37:22 AM I can't remember what happened last week, nevermind years ago.
I think my first proper game was Sonic 1 (in the Mega 6 pack that came with the console) on the Mega Drive from what I can remember, however it might have been World Rally in the arcade way back in 1995 but I can't remember whether I actually played the game or just saw the attract mode. Back in primary school (elementary school), on the old Acorn computers, there was something called Badger Trails but I don't think that was a proper game. Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: DaveMMR on September 01, 2012, 08:04:21 AM Although I've played a couple of arcade games without really knowing what I was doing, the first two games I really played were Donkey Kong and Mouse Trap for the Colecovision way, way back on Christmas in 1982 when I was six.
Title: Re: Whats the first game you remember playing? Post by: cverz2 on September 05, 2012, 10:06:30 PM I remember having a Coleco System when I was REALLY LITTLE. We had Burger Time, Donkey Kong, Buck Rodgers, and Robin Hood.
