Title: Weird issue with the Collection Tools
Post by: G-UEST on September 06, 2012, 09:23:54 PM
Sorry if this has been covered. Wasn't able to pull anything up in a search, or else I wouldn't have started a new topic.

I'm new, and just started trying to put together my collection database on the website today. I've gone to add games and when I click on "Collection Tools" it shows 44 games in the collection that I've added. However, when I click on "My Collection" it shows absolutely nothing. It won't redirect to a folder or anything.

I was wondering if maybe I was adding them wrong. Watched a friend create his database and he was using the checkmark method where you check the games on a search result list. Apparently on my system that's completely missing. I thought maybe it was a firefox issue, so I opened the site up in Chrome and found the same thing. Then in IE. I have no idea what's up.

Anyone have any ideas? I do have Noscript, but I only have it on Firefox and I have it turned off for this website.

Edit: Also, when I try to upload an avatar it says I have to specify my country, but there is nowhere on that page to do so.  ???

We had this problem with another member, and it was a disconnect between their user name and user id. What does the name say when you click on Collection Tools?

MemberID: 6665
MemberName: G-UEST!!

EDIT: It's because of the exclamation points in your name. If you notice, when you go to your collection, it strips out the exclamation points...that sucks.

When I click on "Collection Tools" All I get is "G-UEST!!'s Collection," and then the 44 games that don't show up anywhere else.

Edit: Oh, dang.. Hm. Might have to create a new profile without the exclamations, then. Thanks for the assist!

I can remove the exclamation points and fix your issue without you changing it...however, please give me a heads-up, as it will change your login.

Alright. I'll update the database. Hold on, and we'll see if it works... :/

Looks like it's updated now. I'll get to working on the new database for my collection tomorrow. Thanks again!

It's still somewhat broken. You signed in while I was still updating it, so you now have 2 collection folders...

EDIT: I fixed the duplicate folders, but it's still causing problems. As a symptom of that, the collection tool doesn't default to your Collection folder...it doesn't think you have a selection for one, but you do... Also, your collection won't show the neat little graph breakdown.

Hum..I caught this a little late.  If I did it correctly I think the collection tools should allow for exclamation marks in usernames.  It might be too little too late if you already changed your name...
