Title: Most durable system? Post by: Odonadon on January 30, 2005, 09:09:54 PM GC vs. XBox vs. PS2
http://www.collegehumor.com/?movie_id=107702 Place your bets. OD Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Izret101 on January 31, 2005, 02:17:57 AM I would guess it is Xbox.
My friend took an axe to his without sucess. And if is the video i have heard of the Xbox deflect a bullet. But it stops working because the impact of the shot messes up something inside. PS2 i knew would break first. They used the broken faceplate as an excuse. I bet the Xbox was still working. On a side note i can't believe I never saw thatepisode of X-Play Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Sauza12 on January 31, 2005, 07:30:53 AM Wow, I can't believe that the Gamecube took that much abuse.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 31, 2005, 07:53:37 AM I find it odd she only tries to start the ps2 with the front button. And doesn't even keep it pushed in for long enough. It seemed to have survived the first torture the best.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Tynstar on January 31, 2005, 07:55:57 AM I wonder if after the first test either the Cube or XBox would play a game. Maybe the laser would be misaligned.
I didn't need to see the PS2 tested. All you have to do it pick one up to tell it is built like shit. When I worked at GAme Stop I had a cocxtumer come in to by his 5th PS2 because all the other ones had broke. I am on my second PS2 and pretty much every one I know is on at least there second. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 31, 2005, 08:02:28 AM You know me and I'm on my first :)
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Tynstar on January 31, 2005, 08:09:01 AM All you have to do is tap the front button to turn on the PS2.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 31, 2005, 08:26:20 AM I always keep it pushed for a second or so.... That's the same way I turn it off.
Well, I actually just switch it off and on on the back. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Izret101 on January 31, 2005, 11:09:13 AM My PS2 has been knocked over and dropped and hit and fallen with games in it while playing.(Little bro)
Still works and after picking up the PS2 ind standing it back up i was always able to resume my game with no problems at all. Dan kept his in the smae place more or less for a year and his just stopped woking for no reason. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Sureshot on January 31, 2005, 12:04:43 PM I thought the XBox would have won, I guess it had the weight disadvantage in the dropping test cos it's a bloody brick!
So, what console out of all of them do people think could take the most?  My money's on a SNES.  And is anyone willing to buy a range of consoles and make their own video to find out? :P Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Arrrhalomynn on January 31, 2005, 12:08:36 PM I think the Master System 2 would be able to handle the SNES. It's bouncier ;)
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Sureshot on January 31, 2005, 12:10:21 PM It is indeed, but i can't see it even getting past the barbell stage, it would be flattened!
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Zimbacca on January 31, 2005, 01:24:29 PM I've seen a video of this before. The winner was the Game Cube.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Tynstar on January 31, 2005, 01:48:02 PM My money would be on the Atari 2600.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Izret101 on January 31, 2005, 01:59:55 PM Handhelds i go with original grey gameboy.
Older systems i have to say Genesis. Modern i still think Xbox can put up to the most abuse. It hit the ground just right to knock off the faceplate. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Odonadon on January 31, 2005, 06:30:45 PM I think the busted XBox face plate is a weak excuse for it not to continue on. Put it back on, and I'll bet ya she still rolls. That thing is about 500 times bigger than it really needs to be, but boy is it solid.
OD Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on February 02, 2005, 11:50:54 AM For old systems it's gotta be NES. The thing's like a square plastic armidillo(ieilloeoallo - whatever) over the ten years i've owned one, It's been dropped and stepped on over seventy eight and a half thousand times. And it still starts up when I get on my knees and beg it.
It's like a stubborn old veteran that saved the world and only works when it wants too and only plays the games it likes. No, not really but hopefully you get what I mean. Actually I could care less. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Arrrhalomynn on February 02, 2005, 11:52:00 AM The NES breaks down even when you won't drop it.
Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Tynstar on February 02, 2005, 12:18:24 PM Quote The NES breaks down even when you won't drop it. Flash flash flash Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Izret101 on February 02, 2005, 12:41:07 PM Quote when I get on my knees and beg it. But anyways. I think still think Genesis would be in their but one blow with a sldge would probably detroy any of them. I said Genesis because i have looked and messed around with the indides of one. Then again i just remembered i hit one and broke it. So probably NES because i know those have handled my abuse when i was younger. I still think Xbox should have won the moderns still. I am going to have to try and see if i can find the thing about someone shooting an Xbox and it being deflected. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Tynstar on February 02, 2005, 02:31:39 PM NES SYSTEMS DID NOT WORK AFTER NORMAL USE. REMEMBER THE FLASHING SCREEN OF DEATH.
Hence they do not win. 2600 all the way. Or maybe a 5200 the size of that machine makes the Xbox look small. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: Izret101 on February 02, 2005, 04:01:55 PM Depends on how you look at it.
The did not test to see if games would work only if it would turn on and show video output. FLASHING SCREEN OF DEATH is a form of video out put lest i be mistaken. Now the genesis i slemmed the reset button on would turn on and i would get absolutely nothing. Just the red light to show power was going thru the system. And just to make the record clear. Xbox should have won. The contest was fixed. I bet Nintendo payed them off. Bet they tampered with the Xbox. Probably made it further than it should have in the first place with all the tampering they did. Cutting slicing punctures. All in the "joints" of the outter shell thus weakening it but not in a nonnoticable manner. CONSPIRACY I SAY. Title: Re: Most durable system? Post by: danvx6 on February 02, 2005, 07:45:49 PM i say the grey game boy is VERY durable, i cant count how many times between the ages of 5 and 12 that i dropped it down the stairs, and it still worked fine, it is now succumbing from 'loss of vertical lines of pixels', but the cause is unknown
I bet if you took a sledgehammer to an Xbox the hammer would explode. |
