To whom it may concern,

I would love to see the front page of rfgeneration.com be changed way more often. Unless there's something hugely relevant to the site I think it should change almost daily. We have a lot of talented people writing in the blogs section and I'd love to see different people and topics highlighted on a more frequently rotating basis.

agreed! the homepage is what i have bookmarked so i check it before signing in daily, would love to see it updated more than once a week as it seems to be now (sometimes less often even).

Well, I was planning on bumping it here soon now that I'm back. Guess I'll go ahead and do that. Fleach has something prepared too.

HEADS-UP FOR THOSE INTERESTED: If you want your blog, or someone else's blog promoted to the front page, make sure you enable those permissions! It looks like noise and Fleach both didn't post their blogs to the front page, and noise doesn't have his permissions enabled to allow promotion.

It also helps if you use the break tag, so it doesn't take up half the front page if it's long.

You have no idea how many times I cry a little when someone writes an awesome blog, but I can't promote it to the front page.

I've tried to make it so my blogs are available for promotion (not that I think I write nearly as gooder as some others here) but the little box you check for that never stays checked. So, while I have checked that box many times, it doesn't stay that way.

I also like seeing new stuff on the front page.

oh i didn't even realise mine was unchecked, checked it now! @nupoile, did you make sure to enter your password and hit "submit form" at the bottom after changing the setting?

Yeah, the little box doesn't stay checked. But somehow our overlords know it is.

Anyway, I've got a couple articles in the works so this is just motivation to get them out sooner.

Since we've got a number of active bloggers and a bunch of members who put out some good articles could we do something like having each person volunteer to write an article for the front page each week? These blogs wouldn't have to be very long, maybe 200 to 500 words and would be done alongside a person's regular blog series.

For example, seven bloggers/writers would each be responsible for a certain day of the week. Topics could range from site news, game news, reviews, interview with a fellow RFG member, etc. Each month those seven could rotate to allow other people a chance at the front page.

Could be good Fleach but I know if I were one of them I'd be lazy from time to time and the quality of the content might suffer.

That was always the plan for bloggers, but it never lasts long. At one point, we even had a set schedule of who would post what and when, but I think it fizzled out after a couple weeks.

The only alternative, I guess, is to have the article approval guys promote more articles. Of course anyone who wants a chance at the front page will have to step up to the plate too.

I've noticed the check box issue on my side in the past as well. I'd usually have to enable it after I published the article, and it would work for that time. I'd have to repeat each time. Hopefully one of the programming guru's can take a look at it.

I'd love to see more content pushed to the front. We could use more of that and simply more activity in general.

If people are wiling to put in the work, I can certainly take the time to fix the checkbox. ;)
