Title: Tekken 5
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on June 21, 2004, 12:03:59 PM
Just wondering if anybody here even cares about this game.  A friend of mine contends that Tekken is the greatest video game series of all time.  I like it and all, but it's not nearly as spectacular as he makes it out to be.  Tekken Tag was my favorite, but I found Tekken 4 to kind of suck.  Virtua Fighter 4 was a lot better in my opinion.  Anyhow, I'll play Tekken 5, but I'm not really looking forward to it.  I suspect it will just be (once again) more of the same, with prettier graphics.

Namco recently launched the official Tekken 5 website, here: http://www.tekken-official.jp/

I stopped liking tekken games when I bought tekken tag tournament and found out it was pretty much the same as tekken 3. I'll check out tekken 5, but I certainly won't buy it.

Another tekken game. yawn.  I've never been into 3-D fighters much, hence my moniker. But tekken has never even peaked my interest even a little.  Rival Schools and Erghiez registered more on my scope.

Mostly becuase they are different.  More tekken is just more tekken. Nothing seems to change, or even continue to be interesting.

tekken can eat a dick and will never catch up to MK deadly alliance (evil leon)

rival schools is the only DC import i have and for the map part i have no clue what the hell is going on with it.  of course i later found out that project justice for DC (us) is the same damn game.  another example of me being an ass

I played Deadly Alliance extensively, and the combat system wore out after about 2 weeks. There was just nowhere left to go with it. There aren't enough moves to keep the game interesting.

I never got into tekken.  MK is the only true fighting game for me!

I pretty much just liked Tekken 2 and Tekken tag, although I'd rather play DOA3 than either of them though.   I'll give Tekken 5 a chance, but I'm not expecting much.

Save you $$ on Tekken just wait till it used in 3 months for 15 bucks.
On the other hand preorder MK Deception instantaneously.

This is from IGN. It looks pretty cool. We never get anything like this here.

"One significant change that was also made was the inclusion of Tekken.net, an online system that's similar to Sega's VF.net for Virtua Fighter 4. Well, it should be similar, since the Tekken.net is based on Sega's model. Players now have the ability to customize their character's appearance with items such as hats, accessories, and colors, as well as earning rank names. Tekken.net will also keep track of your wins and losses. Sadly, it won't get you a date with Shirley from Biology class. All this information is stored on a credit card style card that the arcade cabinet itself will automatically generate. You then throw your card into the reader that's located on the machine to bring up your character. The best part about this system is that it will also be available outside of Japan, a first for arcades worldwide!"

I'm not the biggest Tekken fan in the world but some of you guys are saying MK Deception is deeper? Tekken Advanced was deeper than MK .Deception.
