Title: interviews with gamers about violent videogames Post by: Zimbacca on March 04, 2005, 08:57:47 AM Ok, this first guy isn't a gamer and is a dick.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/02/24/tech/gamecore/main676446.shtml Quote Is gaming escapism? Yes, just as Ted Bundy escaped into pornography. It is not a release of aggression. It is training for aggression. this is from the guy who writes Ctrl Alt Del. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/03/tech/gamecore/main677960.shtml Quote What percentage of all games made would you say are violent, based upon your previous definition of violence in video games? I would say that easily at least half of all video games could be classified to contain some sort of violence. Even the original Mario game features Mario stomping on the head of goombas. I'm sure that, while not bloody or gory, could be construed as a form of violence. Next they'll post an interview with the writer of VG cats. Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: Izret101 on March 04, 2005, 10:56:28 AM I wil read those this weekend.
I did a project on this 2 years ago. I read alot of stuff on both sides. It is really a interesting topic if you are willing to luisten to both sides and not get offended about it. But many people are dicks and know nothing about it and just say it is evil and trains people. The best argument i made for it (which i probably read somewhere else) was "A mouse or a controller can in no way simulate or teach an individual how to properly hold or operate a weapon." I said some other stuff but that was the main statement of that paragraph. I may have paraphrased myself a bit too. Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on March 05, 2005, 08:40:53 AM Quote I am working with an Oakland, CA prosecutor in a murder trial in which the older gang members used GTA 3 to train teens to do carjackings and murders. Nuff, said. Dickiest head ever! Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: Zimbacca on March 05, 2005, 01:57:42 PM I fail to see how playing GTA 3 will teach you how to steal a car.
Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: thx1138 on March 06, 2005, 04:40:21 PM Yeah, like some future version of Gran Turismo, with 'absolute realism' (TM), might possibly be used to train ram raiders or some such shit. LOL

The discussion is over. It's proven: Videogames cause murder. Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: sinning.dragon on March 07, 2005, 07:52:06 AM What fucking game was that last kid playing that (s)he needed so badly?
I gotta get me some of that! Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: Zimbacca on March 07, 2005, 08:17:03 AM http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/05/tech/gamecore/main678332.shtml
Here's the guy from VG cats. Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: Sauza12 on March 08, 2005, 06:27:28 AM I really like the way the guy who is interviewing these people is handeling this first round. Just let them get what they have to say out and don't try to twist rebut it.
btw, I can prove video games are violent because since I played Night Trap, I've found myself draining the blood out of scantily clad coeds. You guys are such enablers. Title: Re: interviews with gamers about violent videogame Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on March 08, 2005, 11:26:54 AM see, they (whoever "they" may be) have to go to some crazy russian country called latvia to find a case of VG related murder.
Okay, so it may not be a crazy country, but still! |
