anyone up for some Fantasy baseball? it's a little more involved than the football was but we had a good time with that.

I've never set up a league on Yahoo. Shady, would you like to do the honors is enough are interested? you did a nice job on the football.

I'm definitely interested, and I think Rick did a great job with the fantasy football league, so if he is up for it, I think he'd be a good head for the league.

i'm up for it.  seems like it will be alot more involved than the football... just cause there are a shitload more games.

we seemed to miss alot of the football season this past year cause of a late start, lets not let that happen with the baseball.

auto draft will be good. no advantage to anyone who knows their baseball that way, at least not in the draft.

I would be much more interested in participating with an auto draft, as I also know nothing about baseball players.

Nope. Because I will do the draft and then never do another thing with the team. I tried a fantasy hockey league once and it was too much work. And hockey when playing has a short season. Baseball's season is like 2-3 years long.  :-/

not everyone gets into fantasy sports. I'm a geek about it, I'm in some fantasy league or another year round.

You could still join and then laugh when you kept your draft pics and then still beat me. :-)

If you a person just to be in there I will do it. But I won't be trading and moving my roster around. Who has time for that? To many games to play!

no, don't do that. guys that draft a team then never set a roster bug me. It seems like every fantasy league I'm in when I'm in a chase for the top spot late in the season I'm playing another top team and the guy I'm chasing is playing a team that hasn't set a lineup since week 2. it's maddening I tells ya.

Just a warning, I'm not going to have much time to devote to this, but I will at least be making an effort to play. This will really be my first attempt at this, so im not even sure how much time/knowledge is required.

Then count me out. Takes WAY too much time to be good at this.

not really, I spend about 2 minutes each morning setting my rosters for all my fantasy teams. once in awhile I comb the waiver wire if I have guys that are injured.

You can also set your lineup for the week at the begining of the week.  That's how I handled my fantasy hockey team last year.  I would check me team every once in a while during the week just to make sure no one got injured and to check for free agents.  Probably no more than 30 minutes of work a week.  If you can't squeeze 30 minutes into your week it's time to re-evaluate your life.  ;)

Yeah but for pitcher don't you have to worry about who is starting. The people get hurt. To much research.

starting pitchers have asterisks next to their names on days they are scheduled to start. with relief pitchers you don't ever know for sure if they will get in a game so those I just leave in all the time.

i just want to have everyone in place before i set it up... it gives you like 3 days from the time you start the league to the draft day.

okay I set up a league. we need at least 4 teams before a draft date can be set. I set the league as autodraft.

This is a Yahoo league so you need a Yahoo ID. once you have one go here:

and select  "Join a Custom League"

then create your team. once you have a team you can pre-rank your draft settings, or just leave the default draft rankings.

This is the first league I've set up so pretty much just used the default settings.

I can set a draft date after we get 4 teams. The last date for a draft is May 1st so sign up quick!!

I just e-mailed Rick (shady), so hopefully he gets the e-mail fairly soon and can join the league.

I e-mailed him yesterday too. once one more team joins I'll change the draft status.

okay we had 7 teams so I had my wife register a team so we'd have an even number. I changed our draft status to ready. it says it will happen between now and 11.59 PM on April 4th. so if anyone still wants in hit the link a few post up. if the draft hasn't happend you can still get in.

the teams have been drafted and ready for lineup changes. the season opens tomorrow so check to see if any of your players has a game. scores are accumulated for a week but you can change your line up daily.

if you look at your pitchers, guys who are scheduled to start have a little up arrow before their name. in the "P" slot you can use any pitcher, starter or reliever.

You can drop or add players as often as you like. I didn't put any maximums on roster moves. Each team has 2 "DL" slots so if you have a guy injured that you don't want to cut permanently you can put him on the DL and grab a replacement till his return. When you injured guy is healthy and you want to activate him you'll have to drop the replacement or someone else to stay at the roster limit.

all the rules are on the site so look through them if you've never played before. feel free to ask questions here. this is the first league I've set up but I have played in a couple before.

Got a helluva team this year.  Pitching isnt quite the best but got Pedro so its all good on strikeouts.  One helluva offensive lineup with some dandies on the bench.
Have 2 extra OF up for trade for pitching (starter preferred) or utility/infield player.

I think that I hope my changes do me at least a tiny bit of good.  I'm pretty much getting my butt kicked here.  I'm also having a lot of trouble with figuring out what to do about pitchers.  It is fun though.

you'll be surprised how quick you learn all that stuff if you stick with it. learning the players takes a while.

I'm learning that I need some players who will steal a base every once in a while.   |D

ugh, I got crushed by my wifes team this week and fell further behind Jagdiesel. And I just had another star go on the DL, Vlad Guerrero this time.

Don't worry Den there are still 500 weeks left in the season.

oh yeah, I fully intend to challenge for the title.

I can't seem to pull awayfrom the middle of the pack.  I need to have a big win over Den this week.

I am still trying to get the hang of this.  It is definitely a lot different than fantasy football.

A coupla bad weeks and suddenly Den is nipping at me heels.  Gotta get my team to go looking for some slump busters next road trip...
This is gonna be a tight race all season.  But... I'm sure I'll pull it out in the end :-/

I've been pestering Carol to keep up with her lineup changes. she got smoked by Jag a few weeks ago and he slipped by me into first. of she then proceded to do the same to me soon after and I fell furthur behind.

the beating I gave Sauza helped me catch up a bit though. sorry man.

I see people have been doing some drop/ads. there's good players to be had still. getting familiar with how to manage lineup changes is the toughest part. but everyone should stick with it, it's still a long season. hell, Carol jumped from last to 4th in 3 weeks. no one is out of it yet.

How is this league going?

very well I think. Jagdeisel is in 1st place. I'm 2nd a game and a half out. My wife is 3rd (and currently beating me this week) and Nep 4th.

Lot's of transactions are being made so it looks like everyone is sticking with it.

I'm in 5th place and Just picked uo a couple of Eric Gagne and Jim Thome both on the DL, So hopefully after the allstar game I can make a run.

Moving on Up Now I'm in 4th place heading into the Allstar Game but I'm still 19 and a half out of first place and the top 3 teams are a couple of games from each other..

I'm closing on Jag. My wife kicked my ass last week and kept me from gaining any more ground.

I am very slowly moving out from the basement.  I'm in fifth right now and I need a big week against Den to move into a comfortable position for a playoff run.

Yay know I'm in 3rd place by a half of game...Moving on up!!!

guh, I had a chance to pass Jag as he got beat soundly but alas, Nep kicked my ass and kept me a game and a half out.

I just beat Den's Wife Team 8-3 which I was really surprised because I was pretty much down the whole week and also I gained a couple of games on Den, I'm only 18 games back. This week I have a matchup with the Number 1 team in the league jag's crusher's.I'm sitting pretty at 93-83-11 and in 3rd place.

I fell a few games more behing Jag. I'm winning big so far this week. I hope it holds up.

I also managed to work myself into the playoffs.  Now I'm in a battle for third with the Moose.  

it's been fun so far. fantasy baseball is a different beast than fantasy football. it's a bit more challenging with all the lineup changes you have to do. keeping up with all the scheduled starts for pitchers requires close attention too. once you get the hang of it it is a blast though.

Ha ha!  Into third place I go!  I don't see my team getting any higher than this, but it still feels good.

whew! I finally caught and passed Jag. let's see if I can stay there. only 2 weeks till playoffs! spots 3-6 are still up for grabs.

It figures that in the last 2 weeks of the regular season I have too play the number 2 and then the number 1 team.  Just my luck.

it's playoff time! Jag and I got the first round bye. spots 3-6 are duking it out as we speak.

Congrats to all on a great, fun season.  Maybe we can do it again next year.  I can't believe that I won that final!  Hell, I didn't make any changes while on vacation and still won the semis.  Amazing!!!
