Title: New Zelda Trailer
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on March 11, 2005, 02:18:18 AM
Thanks go to TraderJake for the link.  Some of you may have seen this already, but I just saw the new video for the first time today.  I might actually have to buy a GameCube this fall.

It won't play for me either, but I've seen the E3 one.  God I can't wait for that game.

I don't know. It looks like a mixed bag to me. On the one hand some effects are beautiful, and everything moves pretty natural too (although they sometimes seem to 'float' over the surface), but on the other hand it's still awfully blocky. Some things really could use a whole lot more polygones. The viewing distance is far from impressive too.

It definately looks great for gamecube standards, but current xbox and pc games look better. And having seen some next generation pictures, it's hard for me to get impressed by this.

I think we must also realize that the game isn't near out yet, and the graphics will get better, the first movies of halo 2 were done with computer cg to make it look better, and the game doesn't look as good as those cgs. I'd rather have a game look better upon release then worse. Thats just me

I agree with NES. And while I also agree with quite a bit that Arr said, I have to say that none of it bothers me. Most of them are minor things for me compared to general game play.

Ya i am not too concerned with graphics being not 100% top notch i just want the game to play as solid as it looks.
I still think alot of the stuff i have seen has had beautiful scenary and looked really smooth.

i just hope this one has enough dungeons, the last few zelda tiltes were WAY to short while for the most part extremely fun.

Dungeons

The Legend of Zelda: 9 (plus second quest = a whopping 18 dungeons)

A Link to the Past: 12 (3 light world, 7 dark world, hyrule and gannon's castles)

Link's Awakening: 8

Ocarina of Time: 9 (3 kid, 5 adult, gannons castle)

Majora's Mask: 4 (lowest amount of dungeons, but the sidequest take some time)

Wind Waker: 5  (and one of them is a pretty lame, you dont even have a sword or anything, it tries to pull off sneaking gameplay and it just doesnt work fully in a Zelda game (IMO anyway))

Minish Cap: 6

The number of dungeons in Zelda gmaes haa been steadily declining, hopefully that will change with this upcoming game.

(If there are not at least 8 dungeons Nintendo will hear from me lol)

The Legend of Zelda was such a great game.  I know this is a total tangent, but your comment about the dungeons has me thinking about it.  It may still be the best Zelda ever, in my opinion.  Ocarina of Time was pretty close, and there are a few I haven't played enough.....  but damn, if the first one wasn't amazing.

A friend sent me this not too long ago.  What I find interesting about this trailer is that Link is riding a boar and fighting a goron.  Crazy stuff.  Either way, I can't wait!
