Title: The evens
Post by: Arrrhalomynn on March 15, 2005, 10:59:44 AM
Ian Mackaye, the brilliant founder/singer/guiterplayer from Minor Threat and Fugazi took a break from Fugazi (because the other band members wanted to spend time with their families) and recorded an album with Amy Farina called 'the evens'.

I have to say I'm kinda dissapointed by the album. It's definately high quality music, but not my kind. And not something one really expects from Mackaye. It's very minimalistic and most songs are sung in harmonies by them. The songs are all quite similair (or maybe they only seem that way to my untrained ear), but there are some gems. I like 'around the corner' best.

Anyways, this album is softer than the softest fugazi songs. Definately something to check out for fans of the Mackaye or lovers of the genre. But I don't think it'll be very interesting for people who don't fall in the above 2 categories.
