Title: National Slackers' Day
Post by: Sureshot on April 30, 2005, 05:22:19 PM
Ok, so in France tomorrow there is some Labour day, so nobody has to go to work.  I normally work on Sunday, so it means I have the day off! (woohoo).

Now I know we have a bank holiday on Monday in England, where people aren't supposed to work either, but about 75% of the working population generally does.  In France, however, this day is REALLY strongly legislated, and apparently it's more difficult to legally be able to work than not.  So ladies and gents, the French just got lazier then I already thought them to be.

Does anybody else have such a day in their area for May 1st (or thereabouts)?

Not here, but damn the French are doing something right.  I vote for more days off.

We don't have May 1st off, but there are plenty of American holidays like this that we get off for no good reason.  I still wonder why they don't make voting day (at least every fourth year) a holiday from work, but I guess they just won't wise up.

I work in the health care industry, so we never have any unnecessary days off.  >:(
