I passed some fantasy store today in the horribly city of Utrecht and had a good look in their display window. I was astounded to see what they had for sale.
There were these god awful statues of lord of the rings that cost up to a 100 euros. They were tasteless, ugly and I really couldn't think of any place where these would look good.
There were also these miniature swords stuck on some display board and, most odd, a life size sauron helmet for 650 euros.

I can somewhat understand buying a statue or whatever like that for on your desk, if it would cost maybe a dozen bucks. But why would ANYONE in the world want to wear a replica of that helmet? At 650 euros!! It didn't have a proper inside, so you couldn't even wear it, and it's a pretty ugly helmet. It looks kinda cool on screen, but in real it's rather silly.

Is there anybody here that buys this stuff? Or would want to buy it?

As a video game collector I never question why anyone would want to buy/collect anything. After all I play god aweful looking games.

There were also these miniature plasma swords stuck on some display board and, most odd, a life size Masterchief helmet for 650 euros.

It's just as confusing to me if you make it a halo statue or a plasma sword. I think they also had video game statues.

And I don't even really have problems understanding why people buy these things. It's the prizes of them that make it so confusing. A helmet on itself can be pretty cool, but a 650 euro helmet? I think not.

If it is a real plasm sword I would wont one!

Hey now! I though that was a good price. they go for more then that on Ebay plus the shipping. And this thing is huge.

And there's a 630 euro difference between those 2. Now if you said who would buy a sega pico for 650 bucks, then it would be a comparison.

Arrr- yes, that is a 630 difference and not a reasonable comparison.

Tynstar- yes, $20 bucks for a complete Sega Pico was a great deal.

Well... I buy Halo action figures. I paint them to look like me an my friend's in-game characters. Uberdorkdom at it's finest! :dunce:

Yes I have read the Halo books an they're GOOD. I especially like the first one.
