Title: Game Boy and GBC Variants - Need Help Identifying or Adding
Post by: MetalFRO on July 16, 2015, 11:11:28 PM
I have 2 Game Boy games, and 1 GBC game that I haven't been able to locate in the database specific to the Part # and/or region:

Chinese The Adventure Island 2:

Outburst, the Japanese original release that was localized as Raging Fighter in the US:

Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six - this copy looks like it might be a bootleg reprint of some kind.  Notice the cart doesn't say "Nintendo GAME BOY" with the trademark symbol, it literally just says "GAME" in the same italicized font, and has a Game Boy Color label that looks like a reprint of a box scan instead of a proper GBC label, as there's no part # or anything else.  Also, the obvious, it's a gray cart instead of a black or see-through:

Since I'm not entirely sure how to submit an entry, and when I tried, I couldn't pick the region, I need some help.  Thanks!

The third game is a pirate. You could submit the other two as variants of the originals. When submitting the variant you'll have to change the region by CTRL click the currently selected one on Windows, or Command click on Mac. Then you can select a different region.

Ah, okay.  I was trying to do so from an iPad, so I'll have to try and do that tomorrow from a Windows PC instead.  I figured the Spider-Man game was a bootleg, so my question is, do we submit those, or do those not go into the database, generally speaking?

No bootlegs.

Awareness (scans being put into extra media and labeled as bootleg) is acceptable.

That's what I needed to know, thanks.  I might submit that as a bootleg for reference, then.

As mentioned, the 3rd is an obvious pirate. It's common to see the pirates have "GAME" instead of "GAME BOY", due the fact that Nintendo could outright sue them for usage of the term "GAME BOY". I've got a few in the house for reference. For Game Boy Color pirates, you'll often see "COLOR".
