On loan for quite a few months from my brother-in-law, as he has a spare one. He bought one on eBay, was outbid on another, and got a really good 2nd chance offer which he took up. They've both arrived, and he's lending me one., in exchange for a few re-release PC games, like Rainbow Six etc


So, I might t buy GTA: S.A  , just because,

other than that, what X-Box (particularly x-box only, not for other platforms) should I look out for in the 2nd hand section of Game, Gamestation and other shops etc?

I won't be able to mod, or alter it though. I've never even seen an x-box demo before, or played an x-box game.

Any advice for an x-box newb?

From the games i own and have played i reccomend Halo and Halo 2, Fable, Goblin Commander and the Mortal Kombat games(i migth be a bit biased here.) Psi-Ops: The Mind Gate Conspiracy, Soul Calibur II

Only Halos and Fable are Xbox exclusives though.
But you probably alerady knew that.

Yeah, of course i've read a few posts about HALO on net forums, and I should think that it would be about the cheapest game in the second hand section of the major stores.

I'll try and pick one up on Weds.

Not even Halo is exclusive to Xbox since it is out for PC (and in my opinion is better on PC).

I was going to start to tell you about all the great homebrew stuff available for Xbox, but then read that you can't mod it.  I've never used any of that stuff on Xbox, but I got into the scene a lot back in the Dreamcast days.  It seems the Xbox is many times better than DC was (strictly in terms of homebrew software/emulators).

Mech Assault 1 and 2, Out Run 2, Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Jade Empire I will add more as I think of them.

Well, I can't mod it whilst it's on loan Nep. But, I can probably work out a deal to keep it later in the year, with some sort of trade. But, either way, modding isn't gonna happen this year.

If you don't have a PC that can handle it, I highly recommend The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.  But be warned, it can consume a LOT of your time if you get into it.

I had a hard time getting ino Morrowind.
I kept getting my ass handed to my by everything.
Probably because i had no clue where the hell i was supopsed to go or what i was supposed to do until i had already lost myself in the massive outback of the game.

EB Games has Halo 2, Jade Empire, and Unreal Championship 2 on sale through the end of July at $29.99 each. All are excellent games.

Also, Soul Calibur 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 1, Morrowind: Game of the Year edition, and Halo 1 are all at $19.99.

This is a great time to be getting an xbox!

Oh I totally understand that.  I'm sure you'll still find quality titles for the machine.

I've never played it, but one of the main reasons I'd like to get an Xbox is Panzer Dragoon Saga.  Perhaps somebody else here can comment further on it.

Of course there is Steel Battalion if you want to go all out.  If the price is too high, I suggest breaking into Tynstar's place and stealing his.  That'll teach him for teasing me all the time.

O yea and Burnout 3 is a great game pick that bad boy up too.

Don't you mean Panzer Dragoon Orta?  Panzer Dragoon Saga is that uber-rare RPG on Saturn.

Wow.  I am teh dUmb.  Yes, that's what I meant.

I loved Crimson Skies.  I've played it through about 3 times now.  That's something rare for me considering my how little spare time I have lately.

I also liked

Star Wars Jedi Academy (did this come out on the Cube  ???  I forget.)
Star Wars KOTOR although slow in some spots.
Psychonauts even though it has just started coming out on other systems.

The only bit of advice that I have for you on this topic is don't.

well, when we get our new x-box...i want to get metal slug! the game looks great and a few of my friends gave it high ratings. ninja gaiden is another that is calling my name. too bad they don't bring these games to the cube.

Yeah...Metal Slug 3 is one of two reasons I would ever get an Xbox.  The other is Morrowind.

What should he get then?

Gamecube and Dreamcast are both worth paying full price for, and a PS2 is worth buying a used one just to playa few strategy RPG games along with Katamari Damacy and the horror games it has to offer.

Well it came with Need for Speed Underground 2, and Golden Eye Rogue Agent.

I decided that Rogue Agent was a crock of shit, after about 10 minutes. I am still playing Need for Speed U2, I like it, but it could be better.

Not bought any games yet.

The bastards in the video game stores seem to have a cartel between them, about the price of 2nd hand x-box games. I mean, surely Halo, would be dirt cheap by now? But, it's not to be found for under £7 anywhere!!!

NFSU games are very good.
Nice choice.
Fun and easy to get into but the game can get hard too if you go for the higher difficulties.
I obnly played it on PC though.
I don't know how similiar it is on homeconsoles but i bet it is easier than using a keyboard :-/
