Title: Funn eBay Auction
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 19, 2005, 02:26:16 PM
Take a look at this.  I thought it was pretty damn funny.

I was looking for a 187 hour long film called "The Cure for Insomnia" that I have been searching for for several years now, and came across the above auction instead.  Not what I was looking for, but rather humorous.

Nice auction. Also any "How to" PC book would work.

And what the hell is this movie you are talking about?

I looked it up on IMDB and it is only 87 hours long.  ;)

You're right; I mis-typed that.  It is still super long, and for that reason I must see it.

Basically all I know is that it was originally shot as a real attempt to help cure insomnia.  It is basically 87 hours of a guy reading several thousand pages of poetry along with video of heavy metal concerts and pornography.  When it was released (1987 I think, but that is off the top of my head), it was shown in some art gallery in a non-stop showing.  I don't remember where.  The IMDB would have info on that.  On the IMDB boards, several people have made inquiries about where they can get ahold of the film.  There is one guy who claims it was released with documentaries and extra footage (WTF) in a 96-disc (I think, but definitely in the 90's) set that comes in a "briefcase" for about $250.  However, he says it is only available at local shops and maybe on eBay.  I have no clue if he is full of it or not, but I have not found anything to confirm such a release.  It seems like WAY too many discs to me, even for such a long film.

Another long film was made clocking in at exactly 48 hours, called "The Longest Most Meaningless Movie in the World".  I have no idea where to find that one either, but haven't been searching for it for nearly as long.
