Title: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: St0rmTK421 on June 30, 2004, 10:54:15 PM RF Generation is proud to present our very own online collection organization software.  This has been a work in progress for many months now and we are very pleased and excited to release this project to the public. ÂÂÂ
The collection software uses the RF Generation database that is already in place.  This software will allow video game collectors to keep track of their collections, showcase them to other gamers, and create a place where gamers anc collectors can meet to buy, sell, and trade their favorite video games. You can build and maintain your video game collection online and share it Members of RF Generation can click directly on the links on the navbar and then click the start my collection link in the menu to begin.  Use the same username and password as your board account.  Not a member?  Sign up on our message boards and you can start building your collection today. There are many features to the online collection database that are explained in the FAQ.  If you have any further questions, please post them in the forums and we will answer them the best we can. In addition to the collection database, members can also give personal review scores to any game in the database.  Just enter your rating in through your collection page or through the individual game pages.  The rating will appear as part of the average user score on the game's page after submission. If you have any questions or comments about the new tools, just ask them here. Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Lord Nepenthean on June 30, 2004, 10:58:09 PM P.S. Eddie Herrmann is THE MAN.
P.P.S. "Rock 'n' Roll High School" is the official theme song of the software. Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Antimind on July 01, 2004, 08:56:04 AM The nicest part about our collection software is that we took into consideration all the normal "bitches" with other online collection apps and did away with em. If you have an idea, thought, comment, whatever it will be taken into consideration. After all, this exists for you :girl:

Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: shadytool on July 01, 2004, 02:49:11 PM this thing is awesome!
eddie i praise you! Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: St0rmTK421 on July 01, 2004, 05:10:56 PM Alright people, I didn't make this so you could all tell me how cool I am. I made it so that you can create ad share your collections.
SO USE IT!! :P Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: thx1138 on July 02, 2004, 12:40:07 AM so, if I spend all day typing up my collection on this database..........
can I save it into a format that I can use somewhere else? I mean, if you all up-sticks and move again in a years time, will I be able to take my data with me and use with a different program? Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 02, 2004, 12:42:53 AM Well, we're not going anywhere anytime soon, but we may be able to arrange a way to export the files to a tab-delineated .txt file or something. I'll let Eddie respond to that or I can talk to him about it later.
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Antimind on July 02, 2004, 09:00:02 AM It would be nice if we could have it export to html. That way if users want to use their collections on their website all they'd have to do is change the colors or whatever.
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Sauza12 on July 02, 2004, 12:52:47 PM Very nice software guys! I just put in my collection and I noticed a few games that were either missing or they just haven't been put in yet, or I am just dumb and missed them. They are:
Alone In The Dark 2 - 3DO Deja-Vu - NES V-Rally 2: The Need For Speed World Trophy Soccer - Genesis Winter Olympics: Lillehammer '94 - Genesis Seperation Anxiety - SNES Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 02, 2004, 12:59:39 PM Yeah Mark just pointed out something goofy that's happening with the script today where several games that ARE in the database file are not showing up in the search results. I'm sure that Eddie will be able to fix this pretty easily as soon as I get ahold of him or he sees it on here.
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Arrrhalomynn on July 02, 2004, 01:02:26 PM Which doesn't mean everybody that notices errors shouldn't notify us. If you find even the slightest error, please tell us!
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 06, 2004, 01:34:28 PM @Sauza - DéjàVu and Separation Anxiety are actually in the database already - unfortunately the search is pretty picky about how you type things in.  DéjàVu has the accented characters.  You may have just missed Separation Anxiety because it was under "Spiderman: Separation Anxiety." They may also not have been displayed at all when you searched, due to that bug we had which was quickly fixed.
The two Genesis games were just added, and the other two will be added in a few minutes.  Thanks for the submissions! Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: thx1138 on July 16, 2004, 06:55:49 AM In just started to list it, and then I realised that most of my stuff was not region "U".
As so many of the titles are the same anyway, can you change it so that I can manually select my region? Then I could upload a few hundred of my games into my collection database. Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: St0rmTK421 on July 16, 2004, 03:31:58 PM When you search for games to add, select the U or E checkbox to allow only results that are from a particular region. That should make it easier to find the games you're looking for.
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 16, 2004, 09:47:23 PM He's talking about adding games from the U region lists that don't have the counterpart E lists up yet.... I think.
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: thx1138 on July 17, 2004, 03:09:58 AM yes, thats what I meant, adding my games
Title: Re: NEW ONLINE COLLECTION SOFTWARE Post by: Tynstar on October 29, 2004, 02:37:03 PM I have been adding my games and so far only 3 games missing out of 650ish. Not bad at all. Goodbye to IGN's list.
