Title: Neo-Geo AES Post by: CatchFiveBats on July 20, 2005, 10:33:36 AM I finally got the guts (and the luck) to buy one. It cost me $300, and the game i bought with it (King of the Monsters) cost me $40. The system is Japanese, so because of the region being within the system itself and not the games, most of the games I buy will be in Japanese. I don't mind, though, they're arcade games, so it's not like there's going to be a lot of text to sift through. I ran into a few problems when I first bought the system, as some of you know, but all is well now. The pride of my collection is now sitting on a shelf next to my TV, and I will be basking in its glory for many years to come.
Hell. Yes. -CFB Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: two_scoop_steve on July 20, 2005, 12:02:37 PM Congrats
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Sensei_Fu on July 20, 2005, 12:16:33 PM I have one as well and bought it with Samurai Spirits. Mine is a US unit tho.
Congrats. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: s1lence on July 20, 2005, 12:30:10 PM I got one as well, granted I've had it for 5 months and I still don't own a single game for it.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Izret101 on July 20, 2005, 02:54:22 PM Congrats
Have fun with it man. Arcade games ROCK! I've had a Vectrex Multi-cart for close to a year and still don't have a Vectrex. :-/ Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: den68 on July 21, 2005, 07:15:17 AM Quote I've had a Vectrex Multi-cart for close to a year and still don't have a Vectrex.  :-/ Quote I got one as well, granted I've had it for 5 months and I still don't own a single game for it. that's not that unusual, especially amongst collector's. I've never passed up a game I didn't have a system for. I figure I'll track one down at some point. at the moment I don't have this situation but I had games for the Intellivision, TI-99, Apple IIe, Xbox and Colecovsion long before I got the systems. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Sauza12 on July 21, 2005, 10:29:32 AM Hell, I've had Food Fight for the Atari 7800 for well over 10 years (since the legendary Big Lots closeout of Atari games and systems) and I still don't have a system.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 21, 2005, 12:21:05 PM Congrats, CFB! That seems like a solid investment, both in terms of your money and the gaming enjoyment you can get out of it. I'm envious.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: CatchFiveBats on July 21, 2005, 02:35:15 PM Thanks everybody! I really appreciate your comments and congratulations. If any of you want to see what the system looks like in my room, I've just uploaded a bunch of pics on my profile. Peace out!

Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 22, 2005, 09:16:12 AM CFB, it looks like you've already gotten a second game, so congrats on that as well. No Neo Geo should be without a KOF game. Very cool stuff.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: CatchFiveBats on July 22, 2005, 09:29:12 AM KoF '94 is, of course, unbelieveable. The controls are responsive, the graphics are beautiful, the sound is well-thought-out & immersive, and the gameplay is rock solid. I knew it would be good, but not this good, and I now see why the SNK community is so strong. The only problem is now I'm broke, but it's worth it. ;)
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: den68 on July 26, 2005, 07:02:55 AM just checked out the pics. very cool man. is that Kinex I see under the TV?

I may have an extra 7880 system if you're interested. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Tynstar on July 26, 2005, 07:19:31 AM I have all the games for teh 7800 and i dont have a system.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: den68 on July 26, 2005, 07:50:37 AM well I can't help you, all my 7800 systems are loose.
Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: CatchFiveBats on July 26, 2005, 09:39:26 AM Quote just checked out the pics. very cool man. is that Kinex I see under the TV? Yes, it is. I was a K'Nex kid. I made that a good 6 or 7 years ago, it's a "rock crusher." The little blue turret-looking things spin around and the cylinder in the middle spins around (It has rocks in it.). I am mega proud of that thing. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: den68 on July 26, 2005, 09:59:35 AM I've got a lot of Kinex. they turn up in the thrifts quite often. my daughter really likes them. I'd like to accumulate enough to build her a giant ferris wheel for her Polly Pocket dolls.

I'd like to accumulate enough to build her a giant ferris wheel for her Polly Pocket dolls. I just picked up a huge K'Nex Roller Coaster set a couple of weeks ago for like $8. I haven't shown it to the kids yet because I don't have the time right now to build it for them (they are 4, 5 & 8 so they will need lots of help) I figure it will be a good winter project when it's too cold for them to go out and play for very long. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: CatchFiveBats on July 26, 2005, 11:00:06 AM They had a ferris wheel set of some type when K'Nex were still in production. Oh, those were the days...
@ Bum-Man: Your kids are lucky. I wanted that set so bad when I was a kid, but my parents never bought it for me... I picked up a coaster too a while back. no manual, the motor was missing as was most of the tow chain. I was a little dissappointed but for $4 bucks I did get a ton of pieces. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: Tynstar on July 26, 2005, 12:32:32 PM Quote well I can't help you, all my 7800 systems are loose. Bummer. But for the right price I would buy a loose one. Title: Re: Neo-Geo AES Post by: two_scoop_steve on August 01, 2005, 07:25:59 AM Man, I always wanted one of those Roller Coaster Set's, When I was younger my brother and I alwyas had that circled in the Sears catalog for christmas but we never got it.
