Title: Mechassault 1 for Xbox.
Post by: phoenix1967 on July 26, 2005, 10:45:57 AM
I played this one the other day for the first time, and for a 2 and half year old game, I was pretty impressed with it.

Solid graphics, sound, and tons of DLC to keep the game fresh.

Den, I'm going to bring my copy to Ray's on Friday so we can have a 4-player system link game, since this only supports 2 players per xbox. But it looks like an excellent possibility for multiplayer mayhem!

I played it once with Ray. It was pretty fun. Should be good with 4 players.

Yup. I'm planning on bringing my xbox and 2 controllers. Will we have enough controllers for Friday?

As far as games, I'll definitely bring Mechassault, Tom Clancy Trilogy, Roadkill, and whatever else comes to mind.

Den, bring your TC Trilogy as well because I think they'll system link.

Hopefully, and ironically, maybe the offline Multiplayer will be better than the online.

I was talking about offline play. Pick the strongest Mech and you will win. You can really doge or sneak around in a giant mech.

We tried a 4 player offline system link game of Mech 1 last night. Not that bad.

I actually won with the Elemental mech (a really small one) and because of its size and maneuverability I was so difficult to hit.

The game wasn't bad, but it did take a lot more time to take down a foe. The real pisser is when you've done a lot of the "wearing down" of the opponent and someone steals a kill from you by delivering just the last shot. Granted, this happens in most competitive shooters, but the fact that the wearing down process takes so much more time in Mech 1 made the game seem as though it was lacking something.

That being said, the single player game is very well done and seems to be where the game excels.

I agree 100% with that.
