Title: Zodiac officially dead.
Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 31, 2005, 07:29:09 PM
A while back, I remember the price finally dropped on the Zodiac (by a whopping $30 or something) and it appeared in the Best Buy Sunday paper ad again for the first time in years.  I kinda saw this coming when that happened.  Anyway, it is official.  The Zodiac is dead.  A large number of you might not even have known it existed, and the rest of you don't care anyway.  But, here's the news:

Does anybody have any idea how much these cost?  I might go out and pick one up if the price is cheap enough (if I can find one).

My Treo 650 runs Palm OS, it's the third Palm based phone I have had.  It's hard to say if it would have been my choice since it's supplied by work.  My Sprint rep tells me we are switching over to Blackberries next year so I may be able to give one of those a try.  I do like having the phone and PDA in the same unit, one less thing to worry about keeping track of.  I don't think I could go without the PCS (web access) and bluetooth that allows me to use the phone with my laptop for surfing.

When it was in the Best Buy ad a week ago, the thing was at something like $270 instead of $300.  They are still stupidly expensive, especially if you only want it as a gaming system.  Check eBay.  I know they go for a lot less there, but they still weren't cheap the last time I checked.

EDIT: Looks like they are going for about $180-$200 on eBay with and without games, depending on the model.

Hmmm interesting...
Who knows maybe the price will drop alot since the system just "died" and it will become a future rarity.

I don't actually know anyone(be it realworld or via internet) who owns/owned one

I heard about this years ago in Game Informer and it sounded great, but I was not aware that it was actually released until last week when I saw it at my local CompUSA.  Since I've never seen a game for it I can only assume it did awful for it entire lifespan, which is a pity since it looked very cool and, in my opinion, had potential. (although it is way too expensive)

I've always wanted one, and now I can finally afford it!  Yay!
