Title: My big weekend
Post by: Sauza12 on August 01, 2005, 06:19:02 AM
I had quite a weekend and I got a bunch of pictures.

First up is some handhelds that I found.

The McDonalds handhelds are two shrek games, two Soccer games, and an Activision Barnstorming.  Total for these was $0.50

I got the other three handhelds from the same place.
Electronic Talking Baseball-$3.00
X-Men-$1.00
Ms. Pac-Man-$2.00

And some random tapes that I paid $1.00 total for
Slaughter-Stick it to Ya
Queensryche-Empire
Extreme-Pornograffiti
Rock and Roll High School soundtrack

Next is the big one.  A Nintendo 64 with all connections, two controllers and 10 games for $30.00.  I can't remember exactly what games I got, but you can see them pretty well in the picture.  All the games are loose.

At the very next garage sale I went to I found that Madden 2001 for $2.00.  when I got back in the car I opened it up and found a copy of NFL Quarterback Club '98.  :(  I didn't go back though because I still got a game and a box for 2 bucks.

The last thing I got is an oddity.  It is the first model of that odd Arcadia system that Nep found a few months ago!  The cartridge that came with it is some duck hunt game.  I got this for $3.00.

very nice haul man. have you tried that Arcadia yet? I've got the low budget versiuon of that that just has the Duck Hunt game built in. it's... odd. you have to play it in the dark too.

No, I haven't tried to play it yet.  It looks like it could be some fun though.

you could play while listening to Extreme or Slaughter. I know if I had to listen to those two bands I'd want to shoot something.

It would take more than words to explain how much fun it would be to send those ducks off to fly with the angels.

All of those are sweet finds, but I have to congratulate you most specifically on the Slaughter tape.  That is a great album.  No matter what Den thinks, hair metal rocks him.  Slaughter is one of the best in the genre.

You are a bad man, Scott Williams.  Do you at least see the greatness of Warrant?

You are missing out then.  I liked that Slaughter album so much when I first got it on tape a few years ago that I recorded it to my PC, separated it into MP3's, and cleaned up the clicks and pops from the cassette.  Now I can listen to it always.  I did the same thing with my Warrant tapes (notably Cherry Pie), and others.  Thanks to Laurel I now have a large collection of "real" metal tapes to record as MP3's....  or better yet, as OGG's.

Sounds like wasting a lot of time on crappy music. Oh and Anti gave you the tapes and CD's. Nice to she se unloaded all her junk onto someone.

When these bands first came out I was listening to  Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill and other harder bands. Not the sissy metal.

Well of course those bands are awesome as well.  They have more lasting power, but hair metal will always hold a very special place in my heart.

I like hair metal for two reasons.  First because when I was growing up, that's what my two older sisters listened to, so I would listen to it as well.  Secondly, hair metal was fun.  It didn't have serious or overly depressing lyrics.  Listening to a modern rock station for more than 20 minutes makes me want to go look for a razor.

I agree that the bands Scott listed are sweet.  Except Slayer.  I could never really get into Slayer even though I really wanted too.  Kerry King is a great guitarist though.
