Title: GameCube Bundle, buy or wait?
Post by: phoenix1967 on September 19, 2005, 07:51:20 AM
Since I don't have a gamecube (yet), I'm wondering if the latest bundle offered from Circuit City this week is worth buying or if I should wait.

Included in the deal is the Gamecube with one controller, Super Smash Bros melee, and Legend of Zelda Windwaker. Total price of $99.99.

I'm seriously considering taking advantage of this deal since both games appeal to me and if I were to wait for the price to go down, I'd have to wait for the GC to drop to $60 or less to be able to match this deal (i.e. if I subtract $20 for each game, $100-20-20=$60), which may not happen for awhile.

In addition, they are concurrently running a 2 for $30 sale on all GC games $19.99 or less.

Thoughts? Opinions? Inside info? Anyone?

I would get it it if you dont own a gamecube yet and you think you will like both games.

That is an incredible deal.  Jump on it.

How long is that 2 for $30 sale going?  I might have to check that out...

Per the ad, it looks like this week only.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Better get it now it's that price, and not wait any longer and risk them being gone for good.

I will do so.

While I'm there, I'm planning on picking up a GC memory card as well. Any recommendations?

Get the official mem card and ge the largest one you can. I believe it is 1024
I filled my 59block with just a few games.

Also if their is an extra controller included that is 20 bucks
So In going to the sale they have runnin now
2 games -   30$
Controller - 20$
---------------------
Grand Total  - 50$
So your paying 50$ bucks for a new console ;)

The memory card will be 20-25$ i believe.

I am pretty sure all of te Animals Xings come with a mem card because it uses an entire 59 block.
More if you want to save NES scores.

Unfortunately, there is only 1 controller included in the deal. However, they have controllers on sale for $19.99 each.

Den, is Animal Crossing a $19.99 title?

I tried 2 locations and neither had Animal Crossing. I got a rain check at one of them, though. Hopefully it will be in by Friday, before the bundle sale is over.

Okay. Here's what I got:

GC Bundle with Super Smash Bros. Melee and bonus game Zelda Windwaker.
2 for $30 games: Animal Crossing (with memory card) and Soul Calibur 2.

Total cost=$130 + tax for the Game Cube and 4 games (including a memory card).

Did I do good?

I'd say that's a helluva deal. If you are into the Zelda games you may want to try and track down the two Zelda bonus discs.

Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition and Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time Master Quest

These have the Zelda games that came out on some of Nintendo's previous systems.

I picked up Ocarina of Time already for the N64 when GameCrazy had their "3 games for $15" deal a few months back.. Is the Master Quest a different game?

Title: Re: GameCube Bundle, buy or wait?

it's 2 versions of Ocarina of Time the N64 version and the one that was done for the 64DD that never came out till it's inclusion on the bonus disk. I don't know how different it is.

It was harder dungeons where not the same everytime you entered them.
Thats pretty much it.

In my memory the cube version of ocarina of time looks better than the n64 version. I don't have the n64 version anymore though, so I can't check it.

Wireless controller that kicks ass.

yeah but it has no rumble feature so you won't know if you get a bite while fishing in Animal Crossing.

I could tell fine if I got a bite when I played Animal Crossing with my Wavebird.  I just had to watch the screen so I could see when the bobber dipped.

Don't spend 30 bucks on a wavebird just get a few more games.

All it is is a less functional, more expensive, more power hungry but more free range controller.
The GCN rumble ducks big but not having rumble at all sucks more.

sure but you're still depriving yourself of that authentic fishing feel.

I'm going to pass on the Wavebird.

Den, Champions of Norrath is a PS2 Action RPG (I figured that sooner or later I'll probably pick up a PS2, so I got a game that's supposedly pretty good at a discounted price).

I would've picked up Resident Evil 4, but it was still full price, so I figured I'd wait on that one and get something else since
I didn't know of any other cheap-but-good GC-only games other than the ones that I've already picked up: Soul Calibur 2, Zelda WW, SuperSmash Bros Melee, Animal Xing, Metroid Prime, and Eternal Darkness.

you need Donkey Konga!

a few other good ones that should be pretty cheap:

Ikaruga
F-Zero GX
Pikmin
Super Mario Sunshine
Luigi's Mansion

I saw a few of those titles, but didn't know much about them. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep an eye out for them.
