I saw a CIB set go for around that price like 3-4 months ago.
My aunt has a vectrex still i believe.
I should probably ask for that around X-mas time.

I want one!  I've never found any in the wild, but I have looked. They just were not very popular in this area.

Honestly they are not that expensive, it's just the 3 3D games & glasses that are hard to get. And even this auction is overpriced. That buyer mshorthand is a regular at overspending. He dropped $2k on a sealed Vectrex just a few weeks ago, & I have seen him overspending for years on Atari 8-bit titles. He has more money than sense. But to each their own.  There have been several discussions of late on the 3D games & glasses, these have been going for way high this past year, but in the past you could get these for under $500 all three games & the glasses boxed, now they are pulling $1000-2000 range for the set. I don't know what's going on right now.

But a boxed Vectrex will run you $100-200
Most boxed games are under $50, some as low as $10
And only a couple rares Polar Rescue $100-250
Pole Position $50-150
Star castle maybe $50-100

That's about it, and then those 3D games, which could be $500 for all or $2000 for all right now I'd hold off buying them.

But with only around 19 games total, you could buy everything CIB for around $2000 most months on ebay, just wait a while on the 3D stuff.

Some 2600 games pull that much on their own. So a completed collection of Vectrex items for the price of one 2600 cart seems like a decent price to me. I'd definitely try & pick up a Vectrex & games before I throw the money on Air Raid or Eli's Ladder, or Gauntlet, or Mangia, or any one of those $2K carts.

That's actually my plan as I get closer & closer to a complete 2600 collection. I may take a break from 2600 to pursue Vectrex. I've been wanting to pick one up for a long time now.

One of these days I want to own a system with a few games I remember playing when I was a kid.

They seem to be pretty cheap, over here I've seen quite a few on ebay under 100 euros anyway.

In fact, French ebay looks like a fairly untapped market, despite not yielding as many items as the US and UK for instance.

Have a scout and tell me if there's something worth getting :P

Edit: In fact, they have a section for collecting at http://jeux-video.listings.ebay.fr/Consoles-Jeux-de-collection_W0QQfromZR4QQsacatZ3526QQsocmdZListingItemList

To be fair that is commonly the most expensive vectrex accessories. I love the vectrex, the systems aren't that spendy unless you compare their price to that of a genesis or toaster NES.

The Vectrex has some pretty decent games but I can't see spending that much for an item that would likely spend its life sitting in a closet at Jag Ranch...

So put it on a shelf where you can at least see it.  ;)
