Sauza mentioned this game a few weeks ago when a group of us played at Den's and it turns out to be an excellent strategy RPG (one of my favorite formats).

Since that time, I've done some checking around and it seems that this game is very highly regarded and, due to it's short production run, is a sought after title.

At this point, since I know I'll eventually pick up a PS2, I've started looking around and not only can I not find the title in stock at any store, but virtually every Ebay auction out there has this 2 year old game selling at the full $50 price tag.

So the question to support this topic is this: Has anyone seen this game at $30 or less? And if so, where?

Never.  Ever, ever, ever.  The lowest I've seen it is $40.  I would probably grab it now if you're going to get it, because I doubt it's going to go down in price anytime soon, if ever.

since you don't have a PS2 yet I suppose you've got some tme to find it eh?

what is most you're willing to spend? I'll pick it up if I see it.

I have never seen it under 45$

And that was one actuion on ebay.
The handful of times i have seen it in stores it was still at full retail value.
Atlus was still selling copies about a year ago/earlier this year.

I doubt they will restock on their site though because that would mean another printing.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'm going to have to pick it up now.  What are some other good Strategy RPG's?  I've got a lot of the older ones (Warsong/Langriesser/Dark Wizard, etc) are there any other good new ones?

I've heard good things about La Pucelle Tactics.  I haven't played it myself, but it's only $20 brand new so it might be worth it.

@Phoenix, I saw a copy at a local Gamecrazy a while ago for somewhere between $35 and 40.  That is the only place I have seen it, so thats the only price I can give you.

Den, if you can find it in good shape, CIB for $35 or less, grab it. No rush, though.

I remember seeing it in stores around here like TRU & Circuit City. It's around out there. It pops up in pawn shops at times I'm sure.  Circuit City marked down all their copies to like $5 or so & everyone of them disappeared quickly, and then reappeared on ebay.

I saw one in EB for $45 used, if you have the discount card thats about $40 for a used copy.

I wish.  The cheapest I've found it is $40 used at Blockbuster.

That one went for $36.75 + $3.95 shipping.  Which is still pretty overpriced.

I asked this weekend for Disgaea and also La Pucelle at the places locally that sell used games, and the clerks pretty much laughed at me and said they never get those games in.

Actually, not really.  $40 is about as cheap as I've seen it get around here.

Just to be clear, Disgaea is worth every cent of $50.  I have 70 hours in the game and I'm not even a tenth of the way to where I want to be.

Oh, absolutely.  I have a couple friends who have it, one of whom has beaten it, and the other is fairly far in it.  Both of them have told me several times that it's incredible.

also note that the $36 is because it doesnt have instructions, which is often a big deal for rare RPG's.

Ill pick it up someday.

Just wanted to thank the OP for bringing this game to my attention.  Played it a bit this weekend, and I really liked it.  I think that tactical strategy/rpg might be my favorite game genre.  

Levelling up your items is a bit weird, there's a lot to grasp but it's a fun game.

Just to warn you, this game will suck away the hours.  I am about 90 hours into the game, and my main character is only at level 86 of about 99,999 levels.  I can easily  see putting over 1000 hours on this game.  Seriously.

I figure I'll get to one of the endings then move on to La Pucelle.

I found it! I was at the Dixieland Flea market today and the guy had a CIB copy for $12. I talked him down to $10.

It looks like it's never been played.

No. Not for awhile. Probably not going to buy a PS2 until it drops to under $50. No rush for me.

Thanks. I thought so, too. In fact, I had to do a double take when I saw the price. If I was playing poker at that moment, I would've been able to have been read like a book!

I do have to give the whole rfG board credit here. Because without everyone's hunting success stories involving flea markets and the like I probably would've never even thought about checking them out for games.

Hmmm, Dixieland.  I've been meaning to go there for a few years now, but I just never felt up to the drive.  Maybe I'll go in soon if deals like that can be found there.

I'm not going to make any promises, because I'm not as savvy a shopper as most of the game-hunters on this board. It just seemed that I was in the right place at the right time. BTW, thanks for the recommendation on the game itself.

I will say that there are several dealers that sell games and you should be able to barter at least a little and get some good deals. Also, this is one really big flea market! So even if you don't find the right deal for games, there's a good chance something else will capture your attention.
