Title: Collection Storage Question
Post by: johno590 on October 26, 2005, 05:58:03 PM
How does everyone keep their manuals and carts?  Do you keep them all in the box or do you keep the carts and manuals seperate?

I just am needing some hints on what to do since I do like to play my games every now and then, opening the boxes up all the time (like the cardboard ones)  would wear them out.  Genesis are easy, but I don't know what to do with my SNES games.  I was thinking about putting all the manuals in a little filing case.

I keep all of my cartridges separated from the boxes/manuals, except for those systems that I never use anymore.  For the NES, I even keep the manuals separated from the boxes.  I keep the cartridges at reach and the manuals and boxes stored away.  Of course, if I'd have a game room with the intent of showing off the collection, I would probably take the boxes out of storage and maybe even put the games in them.

my manuals are still kept with the box and cart. except for Gameboy, those I have in plastic sheet protectors in a binder.

What I do is if I open a SNES or NES box to play the game, I just leave the box open all the time.  It's much less wear than folding the cardboard flap down, and will take up less space than needing someplace to store the box and the cart separately.

Although it's not as pretty, I keep those opened SNES boxes in a closet so it doesn't bother me.

Most of my stuff is CIB so they stay in the original box. My 2600 carts are stored in Musicmates hanging on my wall.

CIB stuff stays all together.  ;) If I know I play a game alot , then I leave it out in a hard plastic case to play on a regular or semi regular basis.

Of course most of my favorite games I have duplicates  :P

everything goes on a shelf except loose manuals that i may have the cart for but i dont have the box for....those manuals go in a plastic tub with either loose carts or, as my nes manuals are right now, in a tub with my long box psx games

With the miniscule amount of room I have, I really don't have a choice but to leave my games and manuals in the boxes.  Usually if there is a game or two that I am playing alot, I just leave the cart out by the system because I am probably going to be pluging it in soon anyways.

I have alot of manuals I keep in a stack, but recently I have just been leaving them in the boxes. I also keep my carts seperate from boxes, for systems like snes and n64 and genesis, but now I am tending to just leave them in. Seperating game from box just makes it easier for me to get to the game if I want to play it.
