Title: PS2 Disc Read Error Court Settlement?
Post by: Izret101 on November 10, 2005, 10:28:40 AM
Why did i hear nothing about this until just today?
Does this hold any credibility?

I didn't have time to read all the legal jargon but it seems like people who bought their PS2s more than 13 months ago get shafted.

No, this is real and accurate news.  It is after all a pretty big deal.  An article on this can be found at the link below.  It does include a link to the page Anthony posted, so that page is official.

My PS2 finally gave up the ghost and started telling me this last week, coincidentally! Fortunately I was in a brave mood at the time (and really wanted to play Killer7) so I checked up on the web about them and read cleaning the lens would fix it. I popped the top off and did exactly as told, and now it works a treat. As good as the day I bought it! I don't even have to wait on the "browser" screen anymore. Still, what a terrible thing to happen to a console that's only a few years old.
