Title: R.A. Salvatore
Post by: den68 on December 29, 2005, 04:31:26 AM
anyone ever read anything by this guy? I know he does a lot of those Forgotten Realms books. I picked up 3 of his books for a quarter apiece yesterday. They were part of a series called "Spearweilders Tale". I got:

The Wood's Out Back
The Dragons Dagger
Dragonslayers Return

No I haven't. Is it a FR  series? I really only pay attention to Forgotten Realms,  DragonLance, Dark Sun and Ravenloft books.

I have read the rest you listed.  The series that Exile and Sojourn are in is a great series.

The Crystal Shard that is part of the Icewind Dale series came out first but the Dark Elf series is a prequel to teh Icewind Dale series.

To me he will be the author that created Drizzt

Same here.  I say go with the Drizzt saga, which it appears you have some of.  There are 17 books in it (I think) and all that I have read have been awesome.

I actually picked up a pre-release copy of Sea of Swords today.

I've yet to read anything by Salvatore but it sounds like he's one of the big guns in the sci-fi/fantasy realm.

Powels book store.  This place is fucking huge; it takes up an entire block.  I was originally looking for the rest of the Drizzt saga, but then I saw the pre-release and picked it up instead.

He doesn't even write his books anymore. He gets ghost writers to do it.

Drizzt is my grandma. But I've heard from several people that the last few of Salvatore's books were ghost written. I'm not sure if there's any way to prove it. It's just what some of his fans told me. Also I heard that the last War of the Spider Queen book is so abominable it should be burned and read by no one.
