Maybe set a budget? Going cold turkey rarely works. Good luck. Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Arrrhalomynn on March 22, 2006, 01:12:26 PM I slow down because I don't have money. Have you tried being poor?

Title: Re: That's it! Post by: captain_nintendo on March 22, 2006, 02:13:05 PM After my recent explosion of purchases, I am limiting myself to "x" amount of dollars every 2 weeks.
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: wrldstrman on March 22, 2006, 08:24:10 PM the fact there is nothing i need showing up on ebay has brought me to a screaming halt.
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Zimbacca on March 22, 2006, 09:00:17 PM I've slown down the past few months because I need a new car before April 11th.
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Sauza12 on March 23, 2006, 06:07:15 AM I've become a cheapskate recently because I am saving up for more video games. With Cinci Classic in just over two weeks, and an arcade game auction coming up in about a month and a half, I've had to cut my spending quite a bit. The biggest purchase I've made lately was a purchase I made off of a guy from Atari Age, and that was only $20 shipped.
I have had to quit buying because I was poor, and let me tell you, it's like trying to quit crack. For the first week or two, I'm a bit edgy and have a short temper and buying games is all I can think about. Usually that's when I get more money I can spend and I go nuts after that. Title: Re: That's it! Post by: shaggy on March 23, 2006, 12:20:57 PM Not going on Ebay is easy for me but going into a thrift shop and finding some cheap games is when I have trouble.
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Izret101 on March 23, 2006, 12:25:01 PM Oh i just rmembered there is going to be a rummage sale at one of the churches near me.
Hopefully there is something good there ;) Title: Re: That's it! And don't forget: Yard sale season is comming!!! I just don't do ebay much. Sometimes I look to see if someone has misspelled something or put something in the wrong category, but it just mostly makes me mad. I see things that I want and really can't justify spending the amount of cash that is required on them. So I am like you...quitting ebay is easy...It's all the other stuff that gets me into trouble! Title: Re: That's it! Post by: wrldstrman on March 23, 2006, 12:57:52 PM sad thing around here I can usally find stuff cheaper on ebay than what the flea market people ask. I even had a guy at a yard sale tell me his 2600 loose mousetrap cart was worth 40.00 dollars I just said wow and left
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: phoenix1967 on March 23, 2006, 01:02:27 PM I guess I've been pretty cheap lately as well. I can't remember the last time I paid over $19.99 for a new game, ebay or otherwise. And of the current gen used stuff, I try to keep purchases around 10 bucks and limit myself to games that are CIB.

I dont know about shaggy, but I assume that I am a different type of collector than you.  I get what I can get cheap...I snub my nose at $3 NES carts and $4 Genny carts.  I want to find things for a dollar or two. Also, as long as I can play the game I really don't care about completeness either...It's just an added bonus for me.  Shipping usaully kills any "deal" I might find on ebay. (I say this now...but when I get into the big numbers Im sure I will be on ebay all the time |D) Title: Re: That's it! I've actually had old ladies quote ebay to me at yard sales. ::) Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Tynstar on March 24, 2006, 07:59:45 AM Around here thrift stores are not cheap any more. I saw one place wanted 44.99 for a loose Genesis model 2 system. Plus the amout of time driving and the gas doesn't make it worth it. I will go once and a while. If I have to go some where and I pass a thrift on the way I will stop.
@m3talst0rm - I am cheap as well I passed on 3-4 dollar games all the time when I went hunting. I have also passed on many game on EBay due to the sellers charging to much for shipping. Title: Re: That's it! Post by: wrldstrman on March 24, 2006, 07:22:40 PM I always figure the shipping into the amount im willing to pay..
Title: Re: That's it! Post by: Tynstar on March 24, 2006, 07:45:54 PM Really shipping is no different them going out looking. You have gas money, if you are like Rick and I and go for a long time you stop and eat plus all the time spent looking.

When I first got into collection I was spending around $200 a week on Ebay. Now I go several months without buying anything on Ebay. Title: Re: That's it! I don't spend a lot on Ebay now because I am only looking for a few things to finish library's. Staying focused on 1 or 2 librarys save you money. kinda ;) |
