Title: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: phoenix1967 on March 23, 2006, 03:04:19 PM I saw that they have an adapter for the game cube that allows you to play game boy games on your tv. Does anyone have one and if so, does it work well?
Since it's 50 bucks I'm thinking of waiting awhile. Title: Re: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: TraderJake on March 23, 2006, 03:16:12 PM I have the Game Boy Player.... it is nice, works like one would expect it to. I believe if you search for Golden Sun: The Lost Age you should be able to take game screens taken using the Game Boy Player. I find the graphics to be crisp on your TV, and I thoroughly enjoy that if you have a GBA link cable you can use the Game Boy as a controller. I don't know if it is worth 50 bucks though if you already have a GBA, but if you do not have one and you want to play GBA games then this would be the route to go. Otherwise, you may feel jipped unless you intend on using it to capture screens.
There is a third party product out there as well, but from what I remember from reviews it was really bad. Title: Re: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: bickman2k on March 23, 2006, 03:25:25 PM I think my brother-in-law had the 3rd party one. The only downside I knew of it (I never actually saw it in action) was that it only played GBA games, not GBC/GB games.

So not worth 50$s now IMO. Also welcome to the boards bickman :) Title: Re: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: Sensei_Fu on March 24, 2006, 03:10:50 AM I had one which I used to play emulated NES from a GBA Flash Cart. It was alright, tho the colors were off.
I wouldn't pay $50 for it again. It's amazing how reluctant Nintendo is to discount their hardware. Title: Re: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: Dev1anc3 on March 24, 2006, 02:47:11 PM It works well for GBA and GBC games. I do wish it was completely full screen instead of having the black frame around the screen, but you get used to it after a while.
I also wished they would have put the features from the Super Gameboy and Super Game Boy II (japan) in the Game Boy Player as well. Some games like Street Fighter II, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Land I, II, and III, all used the Super Game Boy to add color and extra backgrounds, but these features can not be accessed on the Game Boy Player, which is kinda lame. Also they only released it in black in the US, yet it was released in Spice, Platinum, and Indigo across the seas, which I think was also kinda lame. One cool thing about it, if anyone happens to have two GameCubes, two Game Boy Players, Two TV's, two copies of the game, and a link cable, you can link them together and play two player games on two seperate TV's. Yay. Title: Re: Game cube adapter to play game boy games? Post by: Izret101 on March 25, 2006, 07:29:25 AM Thats alot of money just to play a gameboy game with someone.

Post by: tholly on March 27, 2006, 04:36:35 PM I imported a platinum GCN GBA Player and bought a US boot disc, so I blew like $90 on the set-up and I only ever used it once to test it......kinda a waste of money....i wouldnt waste $50 on it unless you cannot use a regular GBA or GBA SP or DS and really want to play GBA games.....
