Xbox 360 is getting Final Fantasy Online soon.

Since this is an online-only game, for those of you PS2 or PC owners of the game, what are your opinions of this MMORPG? Are there online issues? Can you play a single player game through it online?

There is no Single Player game so to speak, but there are main missions and such to follow. I think ive logged over 110 Full 24-hour days since i got it, though Ive had it since before the US release by quite a few months. I havent played lately much, but it still is fun to play. Best if you can get someone else or a group of people to play with you though, otherwise its quite lonely.

I started after all of my friends and we would all get together at my brother-in-laws and play together. 3 PCs and 2 PS2s in a living room gets pretty warm. But there is no way to go solo, way too long, way too boring. You would have to make friends fast and try to stay with them.

Plus the 360version probably won't be compatible like the PS2 and PC versions were together since it will run thru Xbox Live.

Actually, when I asked the guy at Gamespot, he said that the plan is for all 3 to be able to run together.

Is there a monthly fee, and how much is it?

From what I read all 3 are going to be compatible.  The cost I think is $10 per month.  And yea me for my 500th post!   :rock:

10 bucks a month on top of the monthly xbox live cost?

Thats how PSO was, $8 plus the XBox Live fees.

You dont need to pay for live if you want to play FFXI

I thought Final Fantasy was like 12.95 per month if I remember correctly. But that is for PC/PS2. Plus you could pay like 1 or 2 dollars per extra character.

I believe Cecil is correct.  I got the FF XI beta version but I can't play it because I don't have a Xbox 360.  I  believe they said all you needed to play the Xbox Live level that comes with the 360 system (Silver I believe).

That would be great...and make sense.

One of the reasons I never got into PC MMORPGs was the monthly subscription fees.

World of Warcraft really interested me, but I dont think my PC could handle it at the time. I may yet still need to look into upgrading if I were to play it. Then again, summertime and extra money for monthly charges do not mix. The power bill goes up around these parts due to the extra Air conditioning used. ;)

And that is pretty f*cking fun from what i have played.

Its nothing compared to a real MMO though. Whohoo, 20 levels!....

be prepared if you are diving into ffxi as a new player. Prices for items are way out of new players' leagues. Unless you either buy gil (ffxi currency) or luckily join a helpful guild, then your gonna have a rough time. Not to deter you from getting it, the game is addicting and tons of fun.

In any case that 20 level limit is supposed to get lifted... i think.

It's in stores for the 360 now. Looking at the box it said "1st 30 days free" or something like that. Which leads me to believe that there's a subscription fee on top of xbox live...but the guy at the store didn't know for sure...

It's $12 or $12.95, but you don't need to pay for XBOX live to play it.

IE: Silver xbox live works fine with it.

I'm not interested in the game, but them's the facts. :P

Looks like I'm going to pass on this one...I'm already xbox gold and don't feel like paying subscription fees for 1 game, especially fees that high!

Is Xbox gold worth it though?  I just used up my free month and haven't noticed any difference.

Gold is only worth it if you play online

FFXI is worth every penny, you get what you pay for ;) 15 bucks a month buys you new content and an everchanging world so

I had it on the PC and PS2 for a couple years, I'm not going to get it for the 360. It doesn't look or play any better then the PC version and you still need a keyboard to get the max out of the game. That and I'm tired of paying for extra services.
