Title: Any Game Gear Guru? Help
Post by: Rejinx on April 11, 2006, 05:55:17 PM
I just pulled out the old Game Gear after about 3 years in a box.  I put in some new battarys in it and started play, but after about 5 min the screen started turning white.  I put in a diffirent game and the same thing happened. I tried another, same thing.  It doesn't go straight to white, its like it blurrs to white.  I am going to try to take it apart and clean it, I don't know how hard that will be. ??? Any help would rule, Thanx

Probably not going to be of any help but...
Where they new batteries?

I haven't used a Game Gear in awhile but what your explaning is reminiscent of Gameboy screen fading out along with battery power.

Thats what I was thinking the game gear eats batteries. I usally use a ac adaptor because its so hard on batteries.

yeah, I would try it with an ac adaptor (one from the genesis would work)...

i havent had that problem but I do have a problem with mine:  The sound doesnt work...Has anyone had this problem? (no sound from speakers and no sound if I plug headphones in either)

thanks

No, its not batteries. They are brand new Duracell and the screen isn't going blank, its going to a bright white.

hmmm....I haven't messed around with mine for a while, but I do remember it had a brightness adjuster on the top somewhere.  what happens when you adjust the brightness?

I had that problem before, try cleaning the cart and connecters, if they are not clean the sound goes completely out.

I tryed the AC plug, dosen't help.  The brightness adjuster is working fine. Thanks, but keep trying

well before you take it apart, make sure you order a security bit from eBay in advance. You will need a small screw driver also. Make sure you remember where everything goes before you take it apart....I completely ruined a perfectly good watch this way, while trying to change the batteries. lol.
