Krazy pics Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: captain_nintendo on June 24, 2006, 09:51:08 AM Those are awesome. I love how they show you that "model" home with a computer  that isn't even hooked up.
Who are they trying to fool? Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Hydrobond on June 24, 2006, 09:47:35 PM Wow. Just wow.
I was honestly shocked to see that Pyongyang had a working subway system. Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Speedy_NES on June 25, 2006, 03:15:47 AM I dunno, I sense those comments are a bit on the "Korea is still one big farmland" stereotype side.
Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: The Metamorphosing Leon on June 26, 2006, 09:11:58 AM @Speedy: What?^
Yeah those are awesome, I love the pics of the border. Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Tynstar on June 26, 2006, 09:29:27 AM Here is some cool info on that giant pyramid looking building. All I can say is WTF are they thinking?
Thanks for the post SFS. Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Speedy_NES on June 26, 2006, 03:04:17 PM Quote @Speedy: What?^ What I mean is, I have a hunch that even if those pics are legit, those comments are false and more based on a stereotyped NK. ;) Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: SFS on June 26, 2006, 05:22:54 PM There are places like that, that I have personally visited in Bosnia.
Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Hydrobond on June 26, 2006, 07:21:17 PM That realy tall building was to be a 100+ story hotel with something like 7 revolving restaurants at the top.  It was never completed because the concrete wasn't structurally up to the challenge of supporting a 100+ story building.  Had it been completed, it would have been in the top ten talest buildings of the time.  The funny thing about it is, the government denys every trying to build such a building; they don't want to admit a failure.  If anyone wants more information on it, i believe it's caled the Ryongong or something similar. I'm sure wikipedia has something to say about it.
edit: i got curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryugyong_Hotel Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Tynstar on June 27, 2006, 07:34:35 AM Quote That realy tall building was to be a 100+ story hotel with something like 7 revolving restaurants at the top. LOL I have read a few different things on that hotel. Couple examples - It can hold more people then they aloow to visit the the country in a year. It cost 2% of North Korea's GDP. Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: Hydrobond on June 27, 2006, 08:43:51 AM Quote It cost 2% of North Korea's GDP. That's just propoganda - everyone knows North Korea doesn't have a GDP. Title: Re: Pictures of North Korea Post by: SFS on June 27, 2006, 09:34:07 AM I herd that NK uses the souls of unborn infants as currency!
