Title: what is this? Post by: shadytool on July 27, 2004, 08:33:03 PM http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8121222746&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
i have never heard of this thing in my life. nice description btw... Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 28, 2004, 08:40:24 AM Wow. Two psychos have already bid on this thing. I don't know anything about it, but I'm guessing the seller must be known in some circles of the gaming community, because that's a lot of dough to drop with such a small item description.
Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Sauza12 on July 28, 2004, 08:44:17 AM This is an Atari 2000. It is a prototype Atari system that was supposed to come out before the Atari 2600 jr. There were only a few that were made and those were snapped up by Atari employees. The guy who is selling this doesn't really want to sell it. He is just getting some cheap advertising for the East Coast Gaming Expo.
btw, I didn't know all of this, they have a similar topic up on Atari Age. :) Just figured I'd come clean on my knowledge thaft. Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 28, 2004, 08:46:07 AM So is the guy just going to cancel the auction before it ends?
Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Sauza12 on July 28, 2004, 08:50:48 AM He might, but the only two bidders are AA regulars that decided to bid on it as a joke. Where the joke lies, I'm not sure. The guy that put up the auction purposefully put a super high starting bid in the hopes that no one would bid on it.

Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Sauza12 on July 28, 2004, 10:17:45 AM He seems to be everywhere but here. It's time to get the recruit party out!
Title: Re: what is this? Post by: Lord Nepenthean on July 28, 2004, 10:52:05 AM But if the auction closes, won't he have to pay a percentage of the end bid to eBay? I don't sell stuff on eBay, but I though that was how it worked.
Title: Re: what is this? Post by: shadytool on July 28, 2004, 01:38:03 PM i was thinking that he might just be putting it up there as a way to plug the con.
thanks for the info sauza. |
