Whenever someone plans to sell something from his/her collection all nerds go 'nooooo! you'll regret it later!'.
Now I've sold a fair shair of my games, most notably my 32X collection, but I've never actually regret it. Of course it's sad to see an empty spot on the shelves, but some rearranging and it's gone.

Is there anybody here who really regrets selling something?

Yes. I sold some BBC computers, I wish i'd kept them now. Apart from that no, not really.

This goes back to the whole attachment thing for me.  I become so attached to my games that I feel horrible if I ever sell or trade any of them, no matter how much I hate the game or how many duplicates I have.  I guess maybe I'm weird, but the ONE trade I ever made I still totally regret, and it's not because it was an unfair deal.

A while back I had a copy of Xenogears that I never played.  I played it once and I absolutly hated the 3/4 view.  

One day I was very short on cash, when me and one of my friends started talking about games.  He said that he couldn't find Xenogears anywhere and that he would buy mine for something like $40.  I accepted and have regretted it everyday since.

I was just thinking about selling some of my dubbles but i would hate to that then have something break ;) so dont know..

Did it twice:

First I sold my NES, 4 controllers including quickshot joystick and powerglove, and about 80 games for $90.  And this was 13 years ago or so.  Regretted that from the minute I did it.

Then I sold my Turbo Duo, 4 controllers including turbotap and about 15 games for like $150 - about 11 years ago.

Oh yeah, I somehow completely forgot to mention the selling of my original NES.  I had the action set, in great condition.  It was boxed and complete - even had all the styrofoam and plastic bags.  I had about 15 or 20 games, all boxed and complete as well...  and I sold the whole lot for $15 when I was a kid because that seemed like a lot of money when all I wanted to buy was 25 cent pieces of candy.  BAD idea to sell that....  it's what really got me collecting.

I've sold a few games I picked up for $5 or less and later ended up wanting for my collection and had to pay out the ass (at least that's what it felt like) for. The most notable is Final Fantasy III.

Still trying to rebuild my old NES collection as well.  It's especially tough to find this stuff complete and in the mint condition I had kept all of my stuff way back when.  If I ever find a complete copy of Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego? in the wild, I'll go crazy with happiness.

I regretted my mom selling my first genesis and all the games for 20 dollars which included every sonic game, all the mortal kombats, toe jam and earl and the 6 in 1plus around 8 other titles. But i have never sold anything so i cant regret any of my sales.

Jesus.  Bad deal for you, man.  Tell your mom not to go into the video game resale business.  Was that the Menacer 6-in-1 or the 6-Pak?

6-PAK  ya toejam and earl alone is 25 -30 bucks :o what ive seen it at it was the good genesis too with headphones and volume control :-/

sold Earthbound, probably the most underrated SNES game ever, WITH the player's guide for $15, now i cant find it anywhere. :'( :'(  also had all 3 DKCs and Mario RPG. Gone now. :(

yes but i am the proud owner of all but earthbound. :D
one thing i have learned is you have to take your wins with your loses and i definatelty won on that deal.

yeah, sold them for $5 each, so stupid... all i wanted to do was save up to get an n64, too bad it ended up bing one of the worst nintendo systems imo

Saving up for an N64 was the same reason I ended up selling lots of my old games.  I learned very quickly that I had made a big mistake, and vowed never to sell my games again...  and still haven't.  You just can't get enough back in resale in most cases....  but I'm biased, because I become really attached to my collection.

same here. wont sell a thing unless i have more than one i could go 5 years without playing a game and when i sell it i get this uncontrollable urge to play it

well, i regret selling my original NES, perfect cond. w/ box nd plastic and styrofoam.
at a yardsale in high school for like $5 or $10 dollars.  that sucked.  and all my games for it.  everything was well taken care of and i think soem of the games still had the boxes too.  i prolly wanted money for the weekend or something.  wasnt worth it, even if it was pussy that i was chasing that weekend.  sucks...

You sell it untested AS IS on ebay saying you dont own the system that it plays on. Thats what half the things on ebay are

If I know something is broke I sell it as broke! I even invite people to inspect expensive equipment before they bid if they are in the area.

People selling i.e ZX Spectrums "sold as untested, no t.v lead to test it with" It's gotta be the single most common stanard rf-lead in the history of the world.  So  it annoys me, cos I know they are lying.

Also, I am selling 5 MSX carts, untested, cos I dont have and never had have an MSX and can't afford one. But the price I get will be affected by all the broken rubbish out there.  :(

I got rid of a lot of stuff after high school because I didnt really have a home for awhile and had to stay with freinds alot. Lost Magic Knight Ray Earth on Saturn during that period, as well as a good share of my SNES games.
Also, one time, my mother stepped on my copy of Dragon Force and broke it and then refused to replace it. (this was when the game had first come out) I'll be lucky to ever find that one again.

Those games are not easy to come by at all.

AGHHH i spotted the Six Pak my mom sold and it was going for $15 and Toe Jam and Earl for 30.

I traded a game gear for some notebook PC parts.
I regretted it and only a year later managed to trade with the same guy to get the same game gear and games back.
I regret selling Twisted Metal: Black: online for ps2, only because i know predict it to be a future rarity. *slaps forehead*

i do regret selling some of the stuff I had as a kid, but of course it was not retro then, and in real terms, with inflation, I probably got more money for it, than I could buy it for today anyway.

I recently sold my entire SNES, N64 and TRS-80 collections on ebay.  Not to mention most of my rare 2600 carts.  I don't know what I was thinking but I 100% regret it now.  Luckily I snapped out of it before I hit my NES collection so at least I still have that.'

I didn't even really need the money at the time, I just got to the point where I said..."do I really need all of these games laying around".  Ultimately, the answer is YES, I DO!!

I sold a few "7's" according to Atari Age, but i'd never really bothered about
harccore Atari collecting, and I don't regret it, my Atari collection is perhaps the most recent anyway.
